  1. Hi all, I'm back! I was in the process of uploading this review of a pre-release version of EGLL when it was released. I'm pretty confident nothing much will have changed since I got my copy this morning. Hope you find it useful 🙂 Cheers, Filbert
  2. Lockheed Martin today sent us some news regarding Prepar3d and a video they just released. Here is what they had to say about the video; "Prepar3D® simulation software presents a virtual world that spans from the ocean depths to suborbital space. See how Prepar3D can be used for immersive, experiential learning in this trailer. Since launching the software in 2010 as an evolution of Microsoft ESP technology for professional training and academic learning, Lockheed Martin has expanded ground and maritime settings, added camera sensors and enhanced its multi-player capability for distributed training exercises. Details about Prepar3D are at www.prepar3d.com." .
  3. Dear Avsim forum members; I am looking to purchase a short 35-40 minute video clip of a specific flight leg on MSFS (2020 version if possible). Originally, I was going to just purchase MSFS 2020 myself until I learned that my laptop does not have the recommended spec for running it. Rather than risk it MAYBE being sufficient, I thought maybe someone could simply make the flight him/herself and sell to me. I'm an ex-military pilot and ATPL but trying to put together a clip of a unique route/leg which I can show to some investors to promote a new business venture. The route is pretty simple really and can provide more details upon request but just wanted to see if this may be possible. Not sure what format video MSFS would produce but hopefully one that can easily be played back on a standard Windows 10 laptop. If possible, I can just make an online transfer to provide payment. Hope to hear back from someone ! If you want email direct, please just send to me at StephenLakeway@yahoo.com. Thanks.
  4. Hi Just an ideafor future versions, to facilitate screen recording etc. with ChasePlane. Record more then one camera view at a time. Just saw this post on the Facebook Engineering page. They have optimized 360° streaming by up to 92%. Imagine having a 360° view of a flight simulation online video. And even more being able to choose your own ChasePlane camera views from an online video you watching. More interaction. But to begin with facilitate screen recording and capturing. Best regards, Sigurdur At today's Video @Scale event in Menlo Park, Facebook announced updates to its dynamic streaming technology to deliver high-quality 360 videos more efficiently. https://code.facebook.com/posts/637561796428084/end-to-end-optimizations-for-dynamic-streaming/ https://www.facebook.com/Engineering/?fref=lmaf
  5. I am pleased to announce a rather different approach to flight simulation videos. A 6-part B777-300ER tutorial demonstrating a long-haul flight across the Pacific from YSSY to CYVR using the PMDG simulator. The tutorial is intended to educate, entertain and to provoke informed discussions on this forum by covering flight planning, flight preparation, departure, en route and arrival procedures. It includes planning for and execution of ETOPS and re-dispatch procedures. I decided to make the captain the centre of all views. So, no views that a real-world captain cannot see. The tutorial element is supported by voice interactions with both the crew and air traffic control and extensive helpful texts. You can also view the flight plan. A full list of hardware and software used in the making of the tutorial is included at the end. Please contribute your comments as posts to this forum.

  9. Hey guys, I finally made my first Carenado purchase and I am very excited to be using this aircraft. I am pretty new to FSX and flying. I am using the Angle of Attack Tutorials to learn. Anyway, so when are you suppose to turn on the carburetor heat? does it have to be on during take off and landing? it seems to me when you turn it on your RPM drops. Thanks everyone. oh I have finally made my first video as well using Carenado Cessna 152 II.

  12. Hi y'all,This is my first post here on Avsim, so hi! I'm wondering which will give me better performance in FSX; the Sparkle GeForce GT430, or the GTX580. The GT430 has much more memory, at 4GB, which is a lot, but it only has 96 stream processors, and a 128-bit interface. The GTX580 I have open in another window (which is just a random 580, not necessarily the one I'll get), has 512 streamers, and a 384-bit interface. The question is, will the stream processors and interface help FSX performance, or is mainly just the memory? Here's the links to the products;GT430 - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814187173GTX580 - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130587The Core Clock, and Shader Clock are about the same in both.
  13. Long story short. I've been wondering where do people find high quality real sounds that they use in their FSX videos. Do they just export them from real videos or is there a place somewhere on the 'net where i can find them? Thanks.
  14. I've compared the cockpit sound of the NGX (the WAV-file) to some video clips I have from some 737NG cockpits. One of them where the aircraft is just finished with one flight and preparing for another I find that the sound of the NGX does match. But of the other clip where the aircraft has been shut down for a night stop (video clip included) I find that the sound do not match. Take a look on the video clip and listen Regards Stig HaraldNorway

  16. Hello again, I have had real problems with Google Chrome web browser over the past 3 or 4 days not playing YouTube videos back properly. There was no audio, and the playback would freeze up after about 10 seconds. These same videos played back perfectly using Internet Explorer 9 or Firefox. I am posting this here on Avsim because I blew a ton of time discovering the 'fix' - and in the hopes of lessening someone else's pain - and wasted time. Some folks chose to "opt in" to the HTML5 player trial on YouTube, but any videos that had ADVERTISING EMBEDDED would NOT play back. Since I wanted to be able to view ALL YouTube content without interference, the HTML5 trial was a non-winning solution. The problem has to do with Google Chrome using automatic Flash updates - the 'latest' (Aug 3rd) Adobe Flash Player update has a 'bug' where 5.1 and 7.2 speaker playback within Windows 7 causes the Adobe Flash Player to crash in Google Chrome (freeze up after 10 seconds, or play back with NO AUDIO heard). The temp workaround is to go to your soundcard in Control Panel (properties) and change your sound card properties to STEREO SPEAKERS instead of 5.1 or 7.2 surround-sound speaker setup. Instantly, the 'troubles' are solved. I wouldn't want to bore anyone with all the troubleshooting I did (to no avail) prior to discovering this out on one of the Google Chrome forums. Let's just say as an IT manager, it was both nettlesome and embarrassing at the same moment. If you don't use Chrome, or you don't watch Videos from Mimeo or YouTube or some other sites within Chrome, you're already gone from this post. If you DO use Chrome I can recommend this as a good temporary solution 'for now' until Google engineers have their way with Adobe (maker of Flash). Of course if you are running a big dog surround audio system on your PC, you may not wish to forfeit that benefit for the sake of 'fixing' Chrome. In my case it was a non-issue, I only have stereo speakers and a subwoofer. For the record, I am a big fan of Chrome, partly because the 'sandbox' technology that Google employs within Chrome to protect against hackers is appealing to me. All things considered, I have been satisfied with Chrome for quite some time, though I also have IE and Firefox on my PC. Until this problem occurred, I regarded Chrome as 'bulletproof'. Sigh.
  17. In this new film I start in the airfield of Tipella CBB7, with short takeoff and low flight to the snowy mountains of the valley. Reaching high altitide, I fly very close to the peak of the mountains showing a marvelous landscape. On a snorkeling dive, I reach Stave Lake and touch its waters with landing gear. Finally landing at Fort Langley airfield CBQ2. 18. So I just saw this piece of news on a tech site and instantly though of the uses it would possibly have in simulation environment, AKA one of the complaints i saw here about oculus rift is how you don't see your own hands and it wouldn't probably work too well due to that. But what about this? Think of the possibilities in a flight simulation environment: See yourself sitting in the cockpit of a plane and reaching out for the buttons and interacting with them. This could possibly make such simulations entirely possible I think, granted you could program the simulator to recognize your arms from the camera and when they are close enough to the knobs turn them etc. Looks pretty amazing don't ya think?
  19. Michael at Jaggyroad Films decided to create something the other day for Memorial Day. We're a bit late posting this as we ran into a few technical issues along the way, but here it is. We hope you like it.

  21. Hi all. If you want to watch some simple and light simulator's videos (not tutorials, just recordings of preparations, take-offs and landings), you are welcome to YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDlCrX1WjyrU_vW8SvRjhPIhT50Wqo-ix Thank you, enjoy!
  22. Hi all, The Platinum Airways video has undergone a major update, to incorporate new functionality and services to our pilots. It is available at our home page, on YouTube and Facebook. Enjoy!
  23. I'm a newbie to the list here. Been about 10 years since I flight simmed with the original FSX. I need a recommendation. I've got an old computer upstairs in my game room that I want to load with some type of Microsoft Flight Sim for occasional use. From what reading I have done, I see that flight sim has changed a great deal since I was active 10 years ago. So I need a recommendation for a program to take full advantage of this older computer's resources, without over taxing it. Here are the specs for the computer I have in mind: Type: Dell Optiplex 755 OS: Windows Vista Business 32-bit CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.00GHz RAM: 4.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz Motherboard: Dell Inc. 0GM819 (CPU) Graphics: Dell 1704FPT (1280x1024@75Hz) 256MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290 (NVIDIA) Not much to work with, but like I said, it's in the game room for occasional use. What would be the best FS option to go with, using the older configuration above? I can't do much more to upgrade it. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
