  1. X-Camera, from Stick and Rudder Studios a is an enhanced camera system for X-Plane 9 and 10 that lets you define multiple view categories and multiple views within those categories that are associated with specific aircraft. Take a look at this short tutorial on YouTube. Download from these two locations: X-Plane.org StickandRudderStudios.com Features TrackIR Each view can enable or disable the TrackIR input. If the view is out the cockpit window having TrackIR enabled is desirable. However, if the view is a close-up of an instrument panel then having TrackIR disabled is probably the better choice since the view will be stable making it easy to click on cockpit controls with the mouse. We also support LinuxTrack on Linux and Mac systems. HeadShake If the HeadShake plugin from SimCoders is installed then the view can accept input from HeadShake. Similar to the TrackIR feature you will likely want this enabled for certain views but disabled for views on instrument panel close-ups where a stable camera makes it easier to use a mouse to control cockpit knobs and switches. The HeadShake plugin must be at version 1.3 or higher for the integration to work. Smooth Transition When this option is enabled the camera with smoothly transition from one view to another over approximately half a second. When the option is off the view will transition immediately. Views can be controlled in a number of ways •Each view can be positioned by using keyboard keys or a control panel •The camera’s X, Y, Z, Heading, and Pitch can all be adjusted for each view •Views can be assigned to a HotKey or JoyStick button for easy selection •A HotKey or JoyStick button can be used to navigate to next or previous views •The views for a specific aircraft can be saved to a CSV file for easy editing Walk Mode Any view’s camera can be placed in Walk Mode. While in this mode the camera can be walked or floated around using keyboard input. If you ever played the video game asteroid that is what walk mode is like. The mode is particularly useful for pre-flight inspections of your aircraft. You can create a external view and after selecting that view you can “Walk” the camera around checking out your landing gear, props, etc. Linear Transitions and Auto Advance Linear transitions allows you to define a transition between two adjacent cameras in category. This capability, in conjunction with the auto advance feature, allows you define fairly sophisticated animations that can be used for automated Pre-flight inspections, scenery viewing, and cool transitions affects that can be used when creating flight videos. All the transitions in our YouTube video were done with X-Camera. What's New in Version 1.0 1.0 Added support for LinuxTrack. Read the LinuxTrack section of this manual for more detail Added support for 8 way hat switch panning Added middle mouse button simulation for easier mouse look operation on Linux and Mac Added enhanced transitions that allow you to create very cool affects for making flight movies. Also added license key support for these more advanced features. Added command to restore a camera to its original position Added roll support for TrackIR, LinuxTrack, and HeadShake. X-Camera now supports a full 6 DOF with these three options. Fixed a problem where X-Camera was not able to save settings for each aircraft if there was more than one .ACF file in the aircraft directory.
  2. We are very happy to announce that we have brought a new Video Gallery online. This Gallery replaces the one that we had to take down earlier this year. It adds new features and a greater ease of use, and most importantly, reliability and low loads on our server. All registered members can add video links to the Gallery. Videos (MP3's) can be added from your own storage system (Drop Box, etc.), or you can link to all of the popular video hosting sites, such as YouTube, Vimeo, Google, etc. Here is a complete list: The far left column regards thumbnails and indicates whether the system will automatically generate a thumbnail image or not. If no, you need to provide a thumbnail link for your video link submission. We hope you enjoy this new system and all that it brings back to the community. If you would like to suggest other categories, please do so in this topic. This post has been promoted to an article
  3. Hi, I'm just getting into making FSX videos, and I was wondering what the best recording program is (for playback from fsrecorder). I currently use MSI Afterburner, but I get my framerates easily slashed in half, or at the very least, dropped by 5-10 while recording. Since FSX doesn't use the GPU more than around 30%, I was wondering if there were any good (and free) recorders out there that can pretty much run on the GPU using CUDA. Thanks!
  4. I recently started a YouTube channel and have been posting tutorials and FSX movies. Since I'm not getting a ton of views at this point and therefore am not getting much feed back, I figured I'd ask for some feedback here. I have so far posted two FSX movies, and I'd like to know some ways I can improve them (e.g. filming techniques, camera angles/panning, video effects, music, etc...).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z095kOVWYms&list=UUHc1Ko-0e0VHW2u4m9hNxLQ&index=1&feature=plcphttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfdAwIDydO4&list=UUHc1Ko-0e0VHW2u4m9hNxLQ&index=6&feature=plcpThanks,boeing247
  5. I just started a facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/fsxphotosandvideos Just a place to post a view videos and pictures taken in FSX. Mostly with addon scenery and addon planes. i.e PMDG, Concorde X, and so on. Also moderator feel free to move this, I was having a hard time on the best place to post it
  6. Not sure if a thread like this already exists, but I thought it might be interesting to see some videos posted here in the forums instead of just in Youtube which highlights interesting aspects of FSX: Post video links of tricks / landings / effects / airports / new add-ons, etc... I find that on Youtube searching does not always bring things up correctly and sometimes the videos are too long, so how about short videos like 2 mins or less that highlight interesting things to do in FSX? Is this a bad idea, if so a Mod can delete it? I'm not much of a video maker, but here are two to get started: A Landing of the 757 Freemium at Orbx's Stewart Airport: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqYABqs3YRk Before the landing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZFSnL5Bj-M Note: You wouldn't normally land a 757 at an airport like this (especially in bad weather), so that is kind of my point on videos. Something unique and interesting... I'm sure other members have better ones. I say we generally stay away from crash videos... Video Ideas Crosswind landings, problematic takeoffs, interesting things a plugin did, bizarre looking clouds, incredible scenery, cool airport effects, etc...
  7. I recently reinstalled FS 2004 (FS9), which I had not been using for three years. I went to the Learning Center where you can read up on the instrumentation and watch videos. When I start, in any section, after a few seconds watching a video, the program crashes to the desktop. Has anyone had this problem and discovered a fix? I would appreciate knowing how I can resolve this problem. Thanks to anyone who can offer a solution or suggestion I can try. kh63

  9. What could say more about you than a YouTube video of yourself, your favorites, your sim, your cockpit, your coin collection, your very rare bulikula, than a movie in your Profile. We are pleased to announce that you can now add a YouTube video to your profile for all to see when they check you out. To put a video in your profile, go to your UCP and SETTINGS. On the left side bar, you will find a link for YouTube videos. Click on it and put a video (or videos) in your profile. The information you need to put in is the ID of the VIDEO. Not the URL, but the ID that appears in the URL of the YouTube for your video, such as "tdj3QwRy1vc" which happens to be the ID of the video you will see in my profile. Keep in mind that all AVSIM Terms of Use apply to what you put in your Profile as a video. Do something your mamma would not want to see, and it probably will result in some not so friendly Moderator's response. Have fun!
  10. So, I was sitting here with nothing better to do. You all know that all I do all day is sit here and respond to things, and I guess I ran out of things to respond to. And then I got distracted, because, you know, we haven't had any T7 news lately. I mean, where's the update guys? C'mon now, share the information with the shareholders!!! We have a right to information!!! Anyway, since we all know we're all collectively obsessed with this airplane and have to post about our hopes and dreams and wishes and the flaws we've already found, I figured I had to speak now or forever hold my peace. Well, first, you all should memorize these dates by heart, because they're going to be on the next 777 test here on the forum: http://www.boeing.co...background.html ...and I just found some new pictures that my father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate sent me last night. Here's one: You can already see they messed up the colors, because, you know, it should be Pantone PMS871, but this seems to be PMS875. See here! I'm really hoping you guys fix this, because my father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate said these aren't work-in-progress pictures anymore. I mean, the pictures I took with my iPhone, clearly show that the color is a lot more warm. See? I super zoomed in on the picture of it that I uploaded to Instagram: Also, check this video out. Doesn't it totally get you stoked for the 777 that's coming out??? Does anyone know if it include PDF versions of the manual? If so, that's awesome. Does anyone know what they're used for? Here are some more pictures, too!!1 Also, can anyone tell me what the range is on this plane? And the max takeoff weight? How much fuel should I load on each flight? My friend says he only ever needs 66% for every flight in the NGX. He said that the NGX is wrong, though, because the real flight got up to FL40,000, but he couldn't. Fuel doesn't make the plane too heavy to get up that high. I'm also really excited to see how this plane works with TOPCAT. TOPCAT doesn't even have the 777 in there yet, but I'm excited to see how super real I can feel as an airline pilot getting a dispatch sheet from the dispatcher. I wonder if they'll ever include a feature that will link with my route building software. Speaking of, someone told me that my route was wrong on IVATSO, which is just dumb, because I got the route from my route building program. My route was: KIAD-KORD via STOIC1 STOIC ESL BUCKO APE JOT BDF BENKY4, at FL370. How is that wrong?!?!? Will PMDG keep the same route format, or will they spontaneously change it? I would really like to throw my realistic airplane outdated routes with my cut-rate route planner, instead of just using today's routes from better sources! Also, did you see the Facebook cover photo? I've embedded it here for those of you not on Facebook. The plane is at cruise...does that mean it's at, like, the middle of the development process? If so, that would totally mean that it's not coming by Christmas... That's sad...I really wish they would all forgo all of the time they should be with their families to make sure I have a plane to fly. Does anyone know if this will be compatible with FS9? What about FS98? I can't afford to upgrade the parts on my Amiga 4000T, so FS98 would be ideal! Signed: The Grinch [...and before any of you get huffy, think of it this way: I just made all of the typical forum mistakes for you. Now everyone can bag on me, and you're spared the embarrassment. Happy Holidays]
  11. With the pending release of an updated version of P3D, AVSIM members who have problems installing 3rd Party Software into updated versions of P3D should contact the vendor for instructions on how to install the software. In most cases the vendor will have to release an updated installer. Please do not use these forums for discussing how to modify a 3rd Party addon to make it work in a later version of P3D. When the new version of P3D is released, it may take some time for 3rd Party vendors to create an installer for the new version. We recommend you keep the current version installed and install the next version in another folder if you would like to continue using your addons. Most likely addon vendors will have new installers or instructions for installing their product(s) soon after the release of the updated P3D version. Some 3rd Party vendors may charge a fee for providing an update to their respective software for installation into later versions of P3D. If this is the case, it could be against the vendor’s EULAs or license agreements for you to attempt to install a current version of their product(s) into a later version of P3D. Discussions regarding those vendors that require a new EULA and/or installer for V3 will be prohibited. Photos and video: Photos and videos showing 3rd Party Software whose EULA would be violated for updated versions of P3D will be removed at the discretion of our moderators. If 3rd Party vendor's software can be installed into later versions of P3D without modification then this information will be allowed and can be discussed. Otherwise it will be removed. Please use this forum to discuss the update to P3D such as installation problems, P3D configurations, display driver configurations, and issues such as those relating to FPS and Virtual Address Space (VAS). Once the 3rd Party Software products have been updated for use in later versions of P3D, you can then begin discussing the addons. Thanks to everyone for your cooperation.
  12. My latest (KONP OTH CEC FOT ENI KLLR). Hope you guys enjoy it, and thanks for watching!
  13. Hello everyone. I want to know who has MCE working and has videos on youtube showing the operation of the program. It can be your own channel or channels of MCE users that you know about. I have preference for channels of visually impaired users of MCE. Thank you and see you later.
  14. We have just opened the new AVSIM Video Library. The video library is an aggregator (for lack of a better word), where videos hosteb by YouTube, Yahoo Video, Google Video, etc. The purpose of this library is to provide a showcase for video makers, commercial members, and those wishing to share their flight sim experience in one place. Now, instead of having to search through all the various video servers, users and video makers alike have a one stop place to catalog their creations and provide them to their community. The videos are not hosted by AVSIM, but simply cataloged by the contributors and made available to their community members. A test video in the new Video Library can be found here: Test And important feature of this new video library is that commercial members can place videos of their products and upcoming products in the library for the AVSIM community to view and discuss. Another important feature is that everytime a video is placed in the library, the pertinent information and a link to the video page is opened in the forums. This provides users in the forum notification of the video availability and a place to hold longer discussions about the video or product. We have placed a number of categories in the new library and are looking for suggestions on others. If you have categories that you think should be entered, please respond to the Categories topic in the HANGAR CHAT forum. The new video library can be found by going to the FEATURES tab above and selecting VIDEO LIBRARY. If can also be found at http://forum.avsim.net/videos

  16. Posting a few links to some of the initial reviews regarding the real plane, which was quite the technology beast when she came out in 2004. Not only the use of modern materials but also the one of the Diesel engines and single lever (+power percentage from the FADEC) setup while the G1000 of course is a milestone of its own. Other planes did come with such character traits but the combination of them all rendered the DA42 somehow special and maybe even risky from the investor's side. As a side note, the engines (actually, their manufacturer Thielert) later caused some trouble concerning the spare parts and warranty situation. So successors such as the 'NG' (for New Generation) not only added overall improvements but also switched the supplier to Austro Engine, still being the Diesel plus FADEC innovation already known but offering more power and efficiency. There also is a Lycoming option which would run normal Avgas (the Diesels go on jet fuel), add a few horsepower and come with a conventional rpm and mixture setup as opposed to the fancy FADEC single lever. Before the 'NG' model, the Thielert engines came as 1.7 litre and later 2.0 litre variants, the latter (named 125-02-99) being 'ours' in the Alabeo plane. "Unleashing" 135hp on each side. ^_^ FLIGHT TEST: Diamond Aircraft DA42 - Sparkling performer Flying Sports Sedan Check the dates, those are close to ten years old now. So that new stuff was really new. Since reading is a dry way to entertain one's mind, there's a video too. This one shows the latest and greatest, the 'VI' which followed the 'NG'. Comes with the 168hp Austro Diesels.

  18. I was thinking today, that in this community there seems to be no awards to people who put effort and time into media produced for flight sim users, thus, i have an idea to create a honour for those people who crate media related items for the flight sim community a flight sim oscars if you will My ideas for awards: Best overall Flight Sim YouTube channel Best Educational Flight sim channel Best Flight Sim movie channel Best overall flight sim Twitch channel Best Flight sim news website Best Flight sim news show (on youtube) Best upcoming twitch channel Best upcoming Flight Sim channel For this i will need a panel of judges, also i would need interest from the community to make this happen If you would like to be a judge contact me by email cromulanboy@gmail.com Also a video maker on youtube would be usefull If you have anymore ideas for categories please suggest some
