  1. Finally returning to her country of origin, Odin's handmaiden prepares to flex her mighty wings. An early start from Rio. 6 turning & burning. Goodbye Rio De Janeiro. Thanks for the hospitality. There's a large ship below the murk. Early morning sun Flying over MMFJ (miles & miles of f.... jungle) Hello Venezuela! Bye bye South America Hello Cuba! Don't worry Pres. Castro. Nothing to see here! Imagine back in the day an XB-70 over Cuba - Fidel would have had kittens! Descending to Florida Down, dirty & (relatively!) slow over MM... well, you get the picture. Getting vectored around somewhere over the Everglades. On approach to KMIA rwy 12 Down... & down. Another great white bird, although she is known as the Queen of the Skies. Shutdown. Thanks for viewing.
  2. Hey, quick question. I'm thinking of getting the Virtavia Chinook, but there aren't any truly thorough reviews on it, and I've been searching for some information on the complexity of the VC. Does anybody know how functional everything in the VC is? It seems like most of the systems are fully functional, but in the screenshots, there appear to be quite a few blank screens on the center pedestal (I can't really tell what they are, but it looks like some navigation units--the pictures are a little blurry). Or is there a manual somewhere that would describe what is and isn't functional? Thanks, boeing247
  3. Hello all, Another "searching for" post of mine again (Seem to be doing that a lot lately, or have a very niche FS taste). Is there anyone out that that knows of a paint kit for the Virtavia A-6E Intruder? Or, even better, does anyone know where I could find repaints of the following squadrons: VA-36 Roadrunners VA-42 Green Pawns VA-85 Black Falcons VA-176 Thunderbolts I would be most appreciative (those squadrons have family ties with me and it'd be wonderful to be able to get my hands on them). Thanks!
  4. Hello, I was woundering if anyone know of(or wants to) create a libyan airforce or similar repaint to the virtavia Tu-22 blinder. It is such a wounderful and unique aircraft(despite its rumours) And i am a little dissapointet virtavia (or alphasim then) only made one default soviet paint for the airplane. Just woundering if there are any others out there like me that are interested in seing repaints of this rare airplane. Last picture is the virtavia fsx tu-22 model

  6. Sorry if the landing's rather dark - no landing lights on the XB-70! Early morning takeoff from Christchurch for a quick sprint to Perth on the first leg of the Valkyrie's return to the USA. Climbing out into the dark blue. A last look before she outruns the sun, Valkyrie about to ride into the night. Onward into the enforced darkness, Odin's chooser of the fallen streaks to her destination. The numbers are good... VERY good! I can see our galaxy from here! Hello, Hobart.... & goodbye! Welcome to Western Australia! Descending towards Perth. Don't know why the vortices near the inlet vane are so bright... Approach looks good. Touchdown! Taxiing in. Good job the airport has lighting systems! Subsonic.... Supersonic... Thanks for viewing.
  7. We are pleased to announce that we have added Virtavia aircraft to our growing product offerings. The Virtavia models are known for their detail and accuracy, and we are happy to now be able to offer these to you. Also, we would like to remind everyone that the MilViz products are still on sale at a whopping 50% off normal pricing. If you have not yet taken advantage of that tremendous discount!
  8. i Bought the Virtavia V-22 Osprey but it wont take off, i auto started engines with crtl e, flaps down, apply throttle but nothing happens? All my other planes are fine please help thanks
  9. I found the Virtavia Globemaster on a list of unofficial compatible addons for P3D V2. I love the aircraft however since the second flight the flight director just wont engage. Please help
  10. After two failed attempts (overspeed crashes!), I finally got this beautiful bird up and away to FL750. Decided to take her from NASA's place at Palmdale over to Boscombe Down, here in the UK (home of the Empire Test Pilot's School). According to a flight planner, almost 5000nm. Apparently she has a combat radius of under 4300nm, but that does include travelling at Mach 3. Set her up for a max range flight at M2.7, it's going to be close!! Taxiing out at dawn. POWER!! Turning to align with the GPS track. Into the wild blue yonder Top of the world, Ma! M2.7, ground speed of 1600kt - it'll do. Well that didn't take too long! Between me and ATC we tried getting her low and slow enough for an approach to Boscombe, but no. I had to report a missed approach - back up to 3500 feet for fresh vectors into a misty Boscombe Down. That's better! Some of the taxiways seem a little tight, better droop the wingtips... In the background we see another beautiful, fast white bird. Well this is a fantasy flight - don't think Boscombe actually has a Concorde, but this afcad file does! Shutdown. EDIT - I said it was going to be close regarding the flight distance: She only had about 14000 lbs of fuel left when I was taxiing her in! Thanks for looking.
  11. Another leg closer to getting the XB-70 back to NASA (Palmdale). Taxiing out at Perth. See you later Perth! Global AI shipping package in full effect! Plenty of featureless water until Africa and O R Tambo airport, Johannesburg. A bit high on the visual approach here, but she can (and does!) drop like a stone - a good and bad thing. Smokin'
  12. Apologies if there's a dedicated section on AVSIM for Virtavia, but the sim I use is FSX:SE so halfway there! Having been flying this speed machine for a little while I've noticed a couple of things. When taxiing around, either at max. all up weight or almost empty, the nosewheel doesn't appear to have much grip - too much understeer even when travelling at less that 5kt or so. Some other aircraft appear to have this trait but they're the POSKY ones in my hangar.... No doubt differential braking would help, but I don't have rudder pedals with toe brakes. On approach and touchdown, there doesn't appear to be much rudder authority either. Perhaps this is due to the big delta and AOA masking the fins from the airflow? Again, on touchdown differential braking would certainly help in keeping her on the tarmac. I can understand if the rudder authority was prototypical, but nosewheel on ice?? Thoughts, ideas, workarounds please? Thank you
  13. Some nasty weather in the vicinity of WSSS. I think the huge front overhang unnerved the tug driver - at least the nose is pointing roughly in the right direction! Turning & burning on 20C Valkyrie - Rider on the storm! The weather is now irrelevant although I'm not at FL750 yet. Australia is quite a large continent don't you know! On descent to Christchurch Pretty! Not a bad approach - the autopilot can let the XB-70 get a bit mushy on the glideslope at (relatively!) slow speeds. The people in the tower look on in amazement! Canterbury Aero Club guys were impressed too! Not sure if the King Air was too happy having to hang back a bit from all that jet exhaust! Rest, sweet maiden of Odin - you shall ride again soon! Thanks for viewing!
  14. Public safety announcement - the Valkyrie doesn't like the wind up her! I finally purchased Pete Dowson's FSUIPC4 the other week, mainly because I finally decided I should fly the big iron with winds aloft and it must be said that so far the wind smoothing function works well. I think I've only had one incidence of overspeed and even then it was brief and didn't cause much of an issue. However, tonight I discovered that the XB-70 cannot deal with any winds aloft once she goes supersonic. She begins to bank one way then after a little while banks the other way, then even further until she rolls over. I was watching the wind readout from the status line (shift-z) and even when it was steady in one direction, the plane exhibited the same behaviour. Once I'd turned off winds aloft via FSOpen Clouds, she flew as she should - I jockeyed the throttle(s) and vertical speed through the transonic and supersonic phases. Manchester to Reykjavik in not a lot of time!
  15. So, what is there in my hangar that has a range of almost 5000 nautical miles and yet doesn't take all day to get there? Why the Valkyrie I left at Boscombe of course! The plan took me out over the North Sea, Denmark, the Baltic skirting northern Russia then dropping down to the Kamchatka Peninsula. The sun didn't set! Evening takeoff, brakes off at about half eight. Taxying out LIGHT 'EM UP!! Turning to follow the flightplan. Top of climb - Flight level 750 About 500 nm to go. On the descent. ILS approach to 34R in the murk. Good job there's plenty of runway left - she's a tricky bird to land! Phew! Greetings! Thanks for viewing
