Hey Pilots & Controllers We have just opened our registration pages to new pilots. We opened at the start of February and believe we have something for everybody. Flying anything from Cessna Caravan up to the Boeing 747 and Airbus A380. We have for areas of the airline. The main passenger section where the planes are locked by rank. The Cargo section where you can fly any plane you like (booking allowing). Executive section where you fly our corporate virtual customers in our executive fleet. and finally our charter division flying our any of our planes to places the main airline doesn't cover. We have based the airline on fantastic payware scenery and awesome freeware scenery so where ever you go your sure to find somewhere to fly. We also have a pilot shop for you to spend your hard earned virtual money. We don't believe that your virtual airline should come before your home life so we DO allow you to pause your flights, leave the cockpit (as long as your not online) and if you really want fly over night whilst your sleeping in your bed. we also only require you to fly once every 60days, and if you cant fly within that time just let us know and we'll keep your account open. We have a teamspeak where we hope once we're fully up and running will be a place of great community and a little bit of banter. we currently use the free version of Kacars as our tracker but are on the waiting list for a custom package. We are also partnered with aerosoft, FS2Crew, Simbrief with others in the pipeline. Which means we have discounts available for you after a while of service. I'm sure I've probably forgotten some stuff so come take a look at our airline at http://www.wegoairwaysva.co.uk read our SOP and we look forward to seeing you. Thanks for reading, and we look forward to hearing from you guys and gals Mark VCEO WeGo Airways P.S any questions please don't hesitate to ask :-)

Hi! I've been looking into getting into VATSIM for some time now, but I wanna join a VA. I'm very experienced with the NGX, CS 757, CS 707, and Airbus X. Does anybody have any recommendations? I was looking at Virtual Blue (JetBlue virtual). The only problem is, sometimes I can't do a flight a month because of school and all the clubs/ teams I'm a part of (#rifleteamislife ... and yes, my school has a rifle team). If anybody has any recommendations for a lenient and noob-friendly VA, please tell me! Thanks, Phil EDIT: Oh, and I would prefer a east-coast US based VA. Thanks!

Star Alliance Virtual has opened its doors to the flight simulation community after two months in planning, and endless hours creating the organization and its infrastructure! Initially founded in October 2013, Star Alliance Virtual brings new ideas and operations to the flight simulation community, such as the ability to fly without needing an ACARS system, but you also won't have to submit a manual flight report. The Star Alliance Virtual organization has very limited sets of regulations and rules, unlike other virtual organizations, and the staff and pilot team understand this is a hobby, and there are many different types of flight simulator users out there, that is why Star Alliance Virtual caters to all simulator users! If you use a Microsoft Flight Simulator, come join us! If you use X-Plane, that's great too! Do you have hours from VATSIM or IVAO that you would like to transfer? Great! We will transfer them all! For more information, or to apply, please go to www.vstaralliance.org. Blue skies!

Hello, if you are looking to join a virtual airline, or a join a new virtual airline. Sun Country virtual is the one. We know what you like and what you don't like. We will not use boring horrible starter planes, with a horrible looking virtual cockpit, and make you fly them. The 737-800 will be at the top of our fleet, (being the top of the real Sun Country Airline.) We will be doing operations in a realistic manor and will not be leaving things out. Another thing is that we will not be going cheap on this airline and buying what we need to make it a great and fun virtual airline. If more information is needed, or you would like to join, please e-mail or reply to this message. [email protected] Thank you -Tucker

My Treatment at British Virtual Airways ROUND 2 Some of you will recall that recently, I posted a message here about my treatment at BA Virtual. Some flightsim and avsim.com members and a member of the BA Board of Directors asked me to reapply to BA, assuring me that my first experience was a simple misunderstanding. Others mistakenly thought I was queue jumping, which is hard for me to comprehend, because I just wanted to keep my place in line. Because I wanted to fly David Maltby’s BAC 111 so badly, and no other VA flies her, and I had been working with a graphic artist to redevelop her paintkit, I thought I’d give it another go. On my second attempt to join BA Virtual, my treatment from HR Representative Antony McGarr and HR Director Tom Mosely was beyond appalling. Here are the email chains for you to see. I’ve edited little bits to protect the graphic artist’s privacy and for length, but nothing of any consequence. I am hoping the viewership here admonishes these people for their outrageous conduct, and I am somehow allowed to join due to public pressure. If I showed contempt, as they accuse, surely a little distain for their conduct is justified? If I am wrong, I welcome thoughtful criticism of how I have handled this debacle. However, I truly believe people who are willing to understand the details will see that the staff at BA are the ones who demonstrated completely unwarranted contempt and rudeness for an applicant whose only mistake was challenging them on lying to me, and getting the facts wrong. If I'm wrong, I'll send a note of apology. If I'm right, I'll complain to vatsim. You decide. The Executive Summary:- After waiting 3 weeks, I was told to correct a minor, fixable error on my app. When I contacted HR as instructed, I was informed that my application was deleted! I would have to re-apply and wait again. -When I appealed to the CEO, I was again told to re-apply, and made fun of me for my “presumed sense of influence.” He instructed me to go to the end of 137 person long list (when I was at #41, which meant several more weeks of waiting). I thought this unfair, contrary to what I was originally told, and just plain rude. -When I posted my original story on avsim and flightsim, members privately encouraged me to re-apply, including a BA Board Member. So, wanting to fly David Maltby’s BAC 111, which only BA allows, I thought surely we could resolve our differences. Based on their encouragement, I decided to give it another go. -When I re-applied, as per HR staffer and CEO instructions, the very same HR staffer immediately terminated my app because he didn't like my avsim post!!! When I appealed to the HR Dir., he wrote an appallingly rude confirmation of my termination, and obviously got a lot of facts wrong as well. The Detailed Summary: HR Staff Antony McGarr wrote: We regret to inform you that your request to join British Airways Virtual was rejected at the application stage for the following reason: I am unsure why you now wish to apply again, especially after your posting in AVSIM. I tried to explain last time that had you just sent me another application, then I was fully prepared to respect your place in the queue but you did not seem prepared to listen to me. You then wrote to the CEO as someone with "more common sense", and decided to go off on one again. I find that quite offensive to be honest; I am a health care professional in my real life and consider myself to have integrity and common sense. I think taking into consideration your dissatisfaction with British Airways Virtual, then it would be best for all parties if you found a VA more able to satisfy your requirements. I am sure you will perceive this as being treated "shabbily" again, as you put it, but I think we are clearly just falling short of your expectations. For that I can only apologise and wish you luck in finding a VA that you are happy with. Antony McGarr British Airways Virtual HR Team www.bavirtual.co.uk *** I responded: So, you have rather prejudically terminated my app again. You indicated you were prepared to respect my place in the queue. When? You informed me that you had deleted my app., sir, before I even emailed you to voice my concern. Thus, either former statement is a lie, or the latter one is. Integrity and common sense has nothing to do with being a health care professional. Do we have to have credentials to fly with BA? I am a former ambulance paramedic, soldier with the Canadian Armed Forces, and I am currently a health inspector. I have degrees in law and education, and I am a teacher in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers. Does this make me a better person? I should hope not. I'm just a person who wants to fly a BAC-1-11 I've spent hundreds of hours on with a little structure and fellowship. I'm going to ask you to reconsider your decision. Let us put the past in the past. My post on avsim (and there is another on flightsim.com with many more responders) is completely factual. 100% of the comments on flightsim.com were very supportive. A member of your Board has even privately contacted me to ask me to re-apply, and is looking into the details of why I was treated like crap. He told me that if BA wouldn't make things right, I should take my grievance to VATSIM, as they track this sort of thing with VAs that want to partner with them. I am prepared to do that and a lot more if you want to continue with this arrogant attitude. If I am to be denied, surely it must be because I failed your entrance exam, or some section of your code of conduct, which would require membership in the first place. I cannot see any reason why, as mature adults, you and I cannot put our differences of perspective behind us and allow my application to go forward, without prejudice. I ask for fair treatment, for my place in the queue to be respected, and for a little dignity. If you ignore me, then be prepared for a battle. I didn't make any errors in the app THIS time, and was invited to re-apply by the CEO and a Board member. So, what will it be? *** Mr. McGarr replies by informing me he will forward the matter to Tom Mosely, HR Director, for a final decision. Thus, here is the email I sent to Mr. Mosely: To: Tom Moseley I understand that Antony McGarr has referred my case to you for a final say. I would just like to summarize my position: About a month ago, I applied to BA, made an error on the ivao box, and after 3 weeks of waiting, got an email informing me of the error. I was told it was correctable if I got in touch right away, which I did. The response was shocking: It was a fatal error and my app. was already deleted, I would have to re-apply. The waiting list was twice as long as when I started at that point, making for a 6 to 8 week wait. This seemed quite unfair and totally unnecessary. So, I appealed to keep my app. position to Mr. McGarr and the CEO. The CEO replied (in a very mocking tone) that with my "presumed" influence, I should have no trouble flying elsewhere, etc., and completely ignored every point I tried to make. Neither one of them cared about a BAC-111 I had worked on for the site, and their tone was unmistakably rude and dismissive. They seemed to think I wanted to jump the line and be treated differently. I did not. I just wanted to join without having to wait another 2 months because of a simple error, especially one that I was told was entirely correctable. So, in my frustration, I posted an article on Avsim and Flightsim about this experience, which I did not embellish one iota. 80% of the respondents on Avsim and 100% of the respondents on Flightsim were very supportive. I was told to complain to Vatsim, which I have not yet done. More importantly, a Board member from BA very courteously told me he would look into the matter, AND he strongly encouraged me to re-apply!!! I took this advice to heart, and re-applied, because a few other posts also re-assured me that BA was actually not at all like what I had experienced to-date. When I did so, Mr. McGarr promptly terminated my application with extreme prejudice, a move which I found profoundly outrageous, as both him and the CEO had just finished telling me that this was precisely what I had to do to get things going again. He mentioned the Avsim post, which he found offensive. I replied to him that everything in that post was factual, that (most of) the respondents were very supportive, and that a Board member asked me to reapply. I suspect he then realized he was quite out of order, as his final response was to put my fate in your hands for a final decision. All I ask is to have my position in line respected (this time), and be treated with a bit of fairness and dignity. I spend a lot of time flying this BAC, as it is real world certified and a lot of fun to fly because of the lack of automation, and would like to do so with a bit of structure and comradery that only BA offers (because only you let members fly her). In exchange, you get a real world pilot, a fantastic new version of the BAC-111, and someone who will re-post a fabulous ending to an awkward start on Avsim and Flightsim. What say you sir? Will BA give me a chance and let bygones be bygones, or am I to be treated like a pyriah, terminated before even having a chance to join because of a misunderstanding that snowballed into this rather sad story? You have to admire my persistence, if nothing else... Believe me, you won't be sorry for letting me in. I would like to start a fresh page with Mr. McGarr and your CEO... I await your decision. Regards, Lorne *** Tom Mosely’s response: Hello Lorne, I have seen all of your emails to both the HR department and the CEO and I can say all I have seen nothing but contempt for the management team here at British Airways Virtual. As has already been said by much of the team here, any further applications will be refused. Someone with the kind of attitude that you have shown on several occasions is not welcome here at British Airways Virtual. I wish you luck with your search for another VA. Please note that we have sent you several emails explaining the situation to you and any further emails from you will now be ignored. Kind Regards, Tom Moseley Director of Human Resources British Airways Virtual http://www.bavirtual.co.uk *** My final response, edited for length: Hello Tom- You wrote: "Contempt for the management team... As has already been said by much of the mgmt. team here, further applications will be refused." You obviously cannot think or read with any degree of accuity, sadly. The only person there who has denied my application is Antony McGarr. That is 1 (one) person... The only people I have expressed anything close to contempt for is Antony, for obvious reasons, and perhaps your CEO, who ignored much of the content of my letter to him. When the CEO did reply, he mocked me with my "presumed influence" which was entirely outrageous, completely uncalled for, beyond rude, and just plain odd.

I just thought I'd let the membership know that as a new pilot in real life, I thought it would be interesting to join a good VA and have some fun, and maybe learn a few things. I've been simming for 20 years, so this was a natural extension of the hobby. After a lot of research, British Airways VA looked good. They are a Vatsim partner, been around awhile, and they let you fly my beloved freeware David Maltby BAC 1-11. When I applied, I learned that there is a waiting list. I asked how long it would take, the reply was a week or two as people leave, because they have a membership cap. Well, almost 3 weeks later, I had risen to the mighty ranking of 47th on their list, and I was shocked to finally get an email from their "HR" saying I'm rejected because I entered the wrong IVAO code... However, their email states that this can be corrected, just contact them. Well, I did just that. The HR told me I would have to re-apply, period, and go to the very end of the line, which was now 137. Considering it had taken nearly 3 weeks to go from 80 something to 47, I was not pleased. I pleaded with the HR and CEO, telling them I was a pilot in real life, had a lot to contribute, and had friends who were interested in joining who were very experienced pilots, one of whom was an instructor and one of whom was an ATC for the military. I also told them I would be working on a repaint of a BA BAC 111 with an extremely talented designer (who has several thousand downloads here) and we were looking forward to offering this photo real paint to their membership. They sent me back stern replies basically telling me to go rub salt. When I appealed to their better natures, and told them I thought this was terribly unfair, the CEO sent me back an email, mocking me, telling me that I was rude, and presumed that I was "influencial" (and thus somehow worthy of being treated with a bit of dignity I suppose). Needless to say, that was the end of that experience. BA enjoys treating applicants extremely rudely by; -making people wait months, but saying it only takes a week or so -jerking people around (with an initial email saying a totally insignificant error was correctable if you contacted HR right away (which I did), and then tossing my application and making me re-apply because I entered one number of an IVAO code incorrectly) -by mocking me when I appealed to their better nature. I simply asked them to let a guy who was serious about this hobby stay where I was on the waiting list with the error corrected. I was told I was presuming that I was influencial, and made to feel rather stupid for asking to be treated with a bit of fairness. Stay away from these people my fellow simmers. And if anyone knows a good VA, preferrably one that lets me fly the BAC 111 and would love some free repaints, please let me know. Regards, Lorne Jordan

I've been a part of some VA or another since I started flying on VATSIM in 2005. Every single one has shared the same common issue for me; enabling a ban on time compression. For years I just accepted it, falling in with the majority and only flying flights I could fly in real time based on my real life schedule. Since the PMDG 777 has come out with it's auto time compression tool and very recently an app in the Avsim Library called QuantumLeap (warp to any fix/lat or long coordinates in FSX), I've started reevaluating what I get the most enjoyment out of; being part of a VA or participating in my hobby how I want to. For me, the answer in the end was very simple. This is a hobby, not a job. While I can definitely see the value of trying to mimic real world operations that the majority of VA's try to do, you have to draw a line between realism and hobby. I don't have the time to fly a 16 hour long haul flight in real time, and I don't have the desire to just set the autopilot overnight, set my alarm and come to land it. This isn't realistic, and yet is widely accepted by VA's while at the same time time compression is considered "not realistic and not tolerated." Well I think it's ridiculous that VA's have this double standard. Why shouldn't I get to fly my sim how I want to while being a part of a group of other hobbyists that share the same passion I do? We're not getting paid to fly for a VA, so why have these restrictions as if we were? I've seen the argument of "it's not fair to other pilots who earn their hours legitimately." Well so what? Can we spend these hours on real life merchandise? If a pilot wants to speed up their flight and lose real hours, it only affects that pilot, not the entire virtual airline. Some VA's even went as far as requiring the pilot to push a button every 30-60 min in the VA ACARs program just to make sure the pilot was still at his computer. Am I really expected to push a button every hour for 16 hours if I want to fly a flight from the U.S. overseas to Asia or Australia? This is absurd. This turns the hobby into a job. In 2005 my time was largely freed up. Now, I have a career job with a 40 hour work week and I don't want to make being part of a VA a second job. So far, every one I've joined has felt like a second job. Instead of creating an environment where it's fun to fly how you like, you have to conform to their version of how you are expected to participate in YOUR hobby. And it's YOURS. Not anyone else's hobby. So finally, I've decided to hang my hat with virtual airlines and fly how I want to. While I'm a bit sad that I can't be a part of like-minded groups of people representing an airline from the real world, at the same time I'm a bit relieved that I'm not so hung up with restriction after restriction that ultimately was taking all the fun out of this hobby. If I have two hours to fly but I want to fly from LAX to Hong Kong, I can do this without having to worry about my PIREP being rejected. Yeah well, I file my own PIREPs now with FSCaptain, and FSCaptain doesn't care if I use time compression or if I use a 3rd party program to warp to any waypoint in my flightplan for the purpose of saving time and finishing an enjoyable flight based on real life time constraints. I don't know how many other people think like this, and maybe I'm in the minority. That's ok though. I'd rather be myself and enjoy this hobby then conform to the masses and be a part of a VA "just because". I guess I'm really writing all this so that VA's can take a step back and realize that some pilots may be discouraged from joining because of silly restrictions like this. You guys (the VA's) want to create an inviting community for people to come together and enjoy flight simming as a group, but at the same time you're really putting a crutch on people that don't have the time or energy to fly longer flights to interesting and exotic destinations because real life doesn't allow it. Maybe I'm totally wrong, and opening up these kinds of restrictions wouldn't increase your participation rate at all. I have no idea. All I know is I refuse to be a part of any VA that prevents me from enjoying flight simming as I want to enjoy it. In the end, there is realism, and then there is our hobby. If you actually made it through that entire rant, thanks for reading. If you didn't read any of it and only skipped to this small print, then maybe this thread isn't for you because I'm NOT putting a ;TLDR footnote. P.S. I'm sure someone will say it, so I'll just add that my signature now represents the fact I choose to represent the real United Airlines virtually over VATSIM and NOT because I still belong to one of the 10 billion virtual united airlines that exist. My mom was a FA for United for 35+ years, so I have deep sentimental value for United as I flew with them as a kid for free all the time. Strange, I know...but hey that's life.

It gives me great pleasure to announce to you that Kim Stolt has been promoted to Chief Pilot and EVP of Training in addition to his other duties effective September 15. Kim flies jets for a living and is an FAA certified flight instructor. He has over 8,000 hours of flight time at WestWind. He has been involved in leadership at WestWind longer than I can remember. He is one of only a handful of pilots at WW that I consider to be qualified for this job. This promotion has been in the works for a few months, but we wanted to give Kim some time with his family over the summer months before taking on new responsibilities. Kim, replaces Ed Ward, Jr. who had held the position since the early days of the airline. A few months ago, Ed decided it was time to retire. Ed did a superb job for WestWind and he will be missed. He will forever be remembered as one of the pioneers of the airline. Please help me welcome Kim as he takes us into the next chapter of the airline. Mike Gibbs President (Posted 9/14/2013)

A few weeks ago I reported the launching of a new VA, virtual Air Logistics. vAL is a different kind of virtual airline for a different kind of virtual pilot. I’m happy to report that we are growing at a healthy pace and have partnered with a great group of freeware scenery designers. More about this in a minute. Why vAL? vAL offers the virtual pilot a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We fully understand that many things in life come before our hobbies. We never expect you to put your virtual aviation career ahead of family, work, school and other life commitments. We offer schedules ranging from just 30 minutes of flying time up to 1-2 hours. Our goal at vAL is to start small and grow based on the number of members and overall flight activity. Currently we have pilot bases in Colorado and Alaska and pilots can fly from either as they desire. Our flight schedules offer the virtual pilot a wide range of prop driven aircraft including the Piper Cub J3, DHC-2 Beaver (all variants), C185 (all variants), the C208 and for those wanting a little more power, we offer many routes on the Beech 1900D. vAL offers some fantastic bush flying throughout the Alaska, British Columbia and Yukon region with new routes and destinations added each week. Finally, with our brand new partnership with Return to Misty Moorings, vAL offers an opportunity for virtual pilots to really get a sense of what bush flying is all about and strengthens our “No Runway Too Short, No Airfield Too Remote” philosophy. Return to Misty Moorings is a freeware scenery site offering additional sceneries, missions and much more for the Orbx/FTX regions in the Pacific Northwest. virtual Air Logistics, a different kind of virtual airline for a different kind of virtual pilot. Thank you for your time. Jerry

Avid members of the VA's (United, Delta, American, etc) may be pleased to learn that the long-sought-for 64-bit version of X-Squawkbox 4.0 is about ready for a closed private Beta-test, which should mean it is getting very close to public release! Having gone from NO development after being abandoned by the original developers, it now looks as if this much-needed VATSIM interface will happen in the not-distant future, though it's anyone's guess as to 'when, exactly.' This product is of keen interest to the many X-plane pilots who are for various reasons, insistent on flying ONLY in 64-bits. Now, you can have the Vatsim experience AND enjoy the benefits of 64-bit flight. Of course you already can do something even better if you have tried PilotEdge ATC, their VSPro interface already works in 64-bit x-Plane. While PilotEdge is a pay service versus Vatsim (which is free), PilotEdge is used for training and certification by RW airlines and the military. The grade of service quality and audio performance is worlds above Vatsim, and operates 15 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is greatly different from the hit-or-miss services on Vatsim. To be fair, Vatsim offers a much larger coverage area _WHEN THE CONTROLLERS ARE ACTUALLY AVAILABLE_ as compared to PilotEdge. The VA I belong to is locked into Vatsim and refuses to accept flight hours I log on PilotEdge, which makes zero sense to me. I fly Pilot edge 2 hours a day, which is like 60+ hours a month, and instead, I am FORCED to fly 2 minimum duration flights a month in 32-bits with X-Squawkbox 32 so I can maintain my rating for the 777 on the VA. Once 64-bit X-Squawkbox appears, I will have far fewer issues maintaining my currency. FYI.

Good Eveing Pilots. I'm Mark & i'm the VCEO at WeGo Airways. We have been running for the last 7months but (like all the rest i guess) looking for new pilots and staff members!! We are a 5 tier airline. 1) Normal passenger operations for our fictional airline WeGo Airways (We even have paints avaliable for FSX users) 2) Cargo Division 3) Executive Division, Flying business jets all around the world. 4) Charter Division. Basically fly where ever you want using any plane in our fleet. 5) WeGo World. Another Passenger division for our fictional alliance. Real world schedules for real world airline. Currently we have 5 airlines in the alliance with 5 more set to join this month!!! Check us out at www.wegoairwaysva.co.uk to find out which airlines we have avaliable for you to fly. Although the type of aircraft you can fly is restricted by rank on passenger operations you can fly any plane in our fleet for any other operations (and earn hours, points and Virtual Money whilst flying them). So you like flying the T7. carry out a few T7 cargo ops and you'll have enough points in no time to fly the passengers. We believe that fly in your sim is a hobby and therefore we allow you to pause in flight (must disconnect from online client). We allow you to fly over night whilst you sleep if you wish. you can fly online or offline if you wish. you only need to file a pirep every 60days and if you cant commit to that just let us no. there is no restrictions on how much time you want off all we ask is you let us know. Although we don't believe in a big staff roster we are always looking for schedule managers which will give you added benefits. (Read our SOP for more info) Any questions please don't hesitate to ask or email us at [email protected] Look forward to hearing from you See you in the skies. Mark VCEO WeGo Airways

I am starting a new Virtual Airline called Happair Virtual but I am unable to create a good livery. I would appreciate any suggestions. Please send liveries in .dds format as I do not have a good image editing software. The VA's logo and motto is given below: https://goo.gl/photos/TokSHTzsKtHcwHm89
