  1. Hi! I've experienced some very wierd textures on FSX lately, they are blue and ugly and its mostly lakes that looks like that. Im using DX10 and REX. This i what it looks like: http://gyazo.com/e31ba0f441d137e1e9009ad03d425248 http://gyazo.com/b4dbde9d3f4bc69c1e31a02c4ca9c412 Thanks for helping me! /Jacob
  2. Hey, I just bought my copy like an hour or so before this post. I installed some textures via Rex Essentials (with all SPs), and in water selection - I did click on DX10 optimization with textures set to 1024. Now, when I am in the FSX, I do not see the wave animations at all. I know the texture is installed. I see the animation in DX9 (Using the Sparkling Rex Wave Animation). I have tried rebuilding the ShaderCache...but no luck. Any ideas or thoughts on this? Thanks, Skywolf

  5. I started fsx two days ago, and all, and i mean ALL the land was shown as water with autogen on top. I reainstalled 3 times, deleted the files, repaired the registry with the flight1 tool. I dont use UTX or any terrain mods for that matter. I did in past use terrain mods, but never UTX. I only have a couple payware planes. Specs: Phenom II X4 965 @4 GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, GTX 650 Overclocked w/ 2GB VRAM thanks-Morris
  6. I am in the process of confirming or selecting a base for most of my operations, which are flown by aircraft from the size of the small Cessna C510 to the size of the large Boeing B747. I am brainstorming suitable major international airports that possess all or most of the following characteristics: Located moderately closely to other large international airports (under 800 NM) so B747 and B777 flights are possible and realistic Possesses a high-quality FSX counterpart (this may include the default version, if the scenery is adequate enough) Preferably located near large bodies of water (rivers and similarly sized bodies of water are a last resort) Serviced by a variety of aircraft of various nationalities and sizes Currently, I am based at Hong Kong (VHHH). This allows me to make short flights to Kai Tak as well as "longer" flights to Beijing, Shanghai, and Taipei. The default scenery is only decent (but better than most), but I am not sure whether I want to upgrade to the Imagine Simulations version after experiencing the high quality of FlyTampa products. Hopefully a newer high-quality version will be created in the future. In Japan, candidates include Kansai (RJBB) and Narita (RJAA). Both are located relatively closely to other large Asian airports, and have challenging winds, which I like. In the United States, candidates include Boston (KBOS), New York (KJFK), and San Francisco (KSFO). All seem like decent options with great payware scenery and proximity to other large United States airports. KBOS and KSFO also have challenging winds. In Europe, the sole candidate is currently London (EGLL). EGLL is located conveniently in relation to other British airports and other European hubs such as Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Paris. Airports that are attractive but too isolated include Anchorage, Auckland, St. Martin, and Sydney, I would prefer to stay out of Africa, Antarctica, Oceania, and South America (not to be biased or anything) because of the sparsity of high-quality payware products that fit the criteria above. I would also appreciate opinions about existing payware options for the airports mentioned above. Frame rates are always important, but quality comes first. I downloaded the FlightBeam KSFO trial, and was impressed by the quality, but the performance was less good than expected.
  7. Hi, I decided to remove Reshade's annoying popup by removing the d3d (or something like that .dll file). However, I also accidently deleted other .dll files that start with a "d" or anything near them. Now when I turn on boom, the aircraft startup screen tuns back and if you load it with bloom, it loads, but there is no aircraft. Another problem is that when I do turn off bloom (I use DX10 with fixer), the ground textures have turned into water and all the objects just floating above it. What's going on? Which file did I delete and how do I fix this? Can someone please take a screenshot of their main FSX folder around the .dll files starting with "d"? Here are 2 screenshots of my main FSX folder:
  8. Greetings everyone, I am writing this post in hope that FINALLY, someone will be able to assist me with this bug regarding FSX-SE... This is an odd one, was searching online for weeks in hope to find someone experiencing the same issue who found a solution or could help me, however, I had no luck... I was troubleshooting the issue myself for days, but nothing worked... What's even funnier is that this is a SECOND COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MACHINE on which I am experiencing this problem... So these are the systems: Machine #1 (my old desktop PC which I do not own anymore): CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition RAM: Kingston 2×8GB DDR3 @1866 MHz GPU: VTX3D R9 270X 2GB DDR5 HDD: 1TB @7200rpm - installation drive of FSX OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Machine #2 (my current Acer Nitro 5 AN515-43 Laptop): CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3550H RAM: Kingston 2×8GB DDR4 @ 2400 MHz GPU: RX560X 4GB DDR5 SSD: 512GB M.2 NVM2 - installation drive of FSX OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Both systems and their drivers were completely UP-TO-DATE when experiencing this issue. Now, this is what happens: At some airports that are located near the sea and at a height approximately the same as the sea level itself, I get a strange black patch/water textures that appear beneath me... Nowhere else in the distance, that is all fine, but just in a circle about 100 meters in diameter BENEATH THE PLAYER! The taxiways and runways are spared of this effect, its just the ground grass textures around me that look like that. The airports I currently experience this bugs are LIMJ Genoa (looks completely flooded, as if I landed on an aircraft carrier), LDZD Zadar (bug appears only partially until 1/2 of the runway length) and LDDU Dubrovnik (on approach towards RWY 11 as the terrain is rising from the sea, I get water beneath me as I slowly descend) - so here effect appears on textures that are not in the vicinity of the airfield, but rather on world textures. Strangely enough, I went to KJFK and test if this will happen there, as I know it's all surrounded by water, but nothing, no problems there even though it's graphically and CPU 10 times more intense than those other areas... Here are some other differences that might help: my machine #1 was running FSX-SE on DX9 and settings set on high, almost no major addons, just some freeware aircraft and world textures. My current machine #2 is running FSX-SE on DX10 with Steve's DX10 Fixer, ORBX Global Base, FreeMeshX and Aerosoft A320X... However on my first machine, under DX9, these textures were not replaced with water textures, but it was just black patch that was following me all around, even further than what's happening now... Here is the link to screenshots taken at LDZD, where you can see the problem just appears partially on the southern side of the airfield (at 1/2 of the runway length, no matter the altitude problem goes away), the patch follows me around, as you can see my initial position at the tower turns into the ground when I slew to to left, and if I taxi on the "water" itself, it detects it truly as water, not just texture replacement of the ground: https://postimg.cc/gallery/8MqPmFC When did I notice this problem? On my first machine, the problem appeared after I installed "World of AI" complete pack, and now on this machine after I installed "IVAO MTL" library... They are both pretty big (around 6 GB), and after installing it the FSX-SE takes about 5 minutes to launch the first time. Upon their removal, the launch is back to normal, but the problem persists... I do have edited fsx.cfg, however, this shouldn't be the issue as my last system didn't have it edited and on this system, I have been playing for almost half a year now with it edited, and the problem just appeared out of nowhere last week... I tried to edit the setting in Radeon Adrenaline Software, however, nothing helped... I deleted the shaders cache but even that had no effect to it... Strangely, if I replace an airport with an addon scenery of it, that has photoreal textures around it, the problem goes away (example of LDZD), so I assume it has something to do with scenery hierarchy or so... I truly have no idea at all... I don't know what is causing this strange issue, if somebody has any idea on how to fix this I would be extremely grateful 🙂 I wish you all a nice rest of the day, and take care 😉
  9. Hi Guys I bought prepar3d yesterday and simulation it's much better than FSX for sure. However the performance is the same for not saying worst in some cases (tested with PMDG in Mallorca X) I really was expecting something else. While flying I've seen that water textures at minumum settings looks like in FSX at 2.0 and I have it on 1.0 high on FSX, I think if I could decrease quality of water on prepar3d then I'll get better performance than on FSX, anyone knows how to modify it on .cfg?? any help is welcome! My cpu is a Q9300 at 2.88GHZ if anyone is wondering. Daniel
  10. Hello Everyone, FSX scenery is now nothing but water or is entirely black. Autogen seems to be unchanged. I have reinstalled, replaced the scenery.cfg file with the one from AppData, and run the SceneryConfigEditor application (assuming I ran it correctly). Nothing has changed. I reinstalled in the first place because I was having the FSX CTD after Repair issue. I uploaded some pictures, but they are reduced quality to meet the size requirements.Thank you for your help
  11. Back when I started simming using FSX (I know, I know - I am still a relative newbie), there was a nice little utility called FS Water Configurator. It allowed rivers and lakes and oceans to be different colors, with different wave patterns (I think). Then when I migrated to Prepar3d, starting at V1, we had the excellent water texture/color offering from REX Texture Direct. You want Dazzle? You want Sparkle? How about a 10 different types of tropical water and coral reefs? We got 'em all! Now, as of V4 when we went 64-bit we have... nothing. The water, whether it is river, lake, or ocean, is a uniform blah color and the wave effects are just grotesque - river and lake waves big enough to swamp a 40-footer. Does anybody know where we went wrong? I have to admit I have not tried loading Texture Direct into Prepar3D V5 so cannot verify whether or not it is a viable approach, but why does the current water look so bad compared to before, despite a common heritage? Okay, I will stop whining now... Thinking about moving to V5.1HF1 this evening - that will fix everything, right? 🙂
  12. I have a Corsair H100i as my water cooler on my 3930k and it works great.. but for one thing. I have to wait about 8 minutes after boot up for the pump RPM to hit 2200RPM. It sits at 500RPM while I wait. And with this aggressive overclock, I can't do anything at all until the fan kicks on. I have done searches on Corsair's forums but can't seem to find this exact problem. Everyone is complaining about the Corsair LINK software not letting them control the fan speed but I dont need fan crontrol. I need fan to spin fast right off the bat. This fan speed loss happens while sitting in the BIOS menu as well. After about 8 minutes though the cooler makes a sound like it's spinning down but the RPM goes up. While it's 500 rpm it's noisy as all hell but when it goes to 2200RPM it's quite??? Does that make any sense? It's kind of annoying having to wait 8 minutes before I can do anything on my PC. Any thoughts?
  13. Hi, i´ve veen having this problem for a while already, and it is driving me crazy. Where it is supossed to be water, there is ground; and the coast, instead of being something irregular, like it is supossed to be, is square. I´ll attach some pictures so that you can see what the problem looks like. The picture I attached is from Nice, France. The airport should be sorrounded by water, but now it is not. And, believe it or not, a couple of months ago it didn´t use to happen.
  14. Hello guys, for a long time I am not happy with my water textures which are created by REX 4. I just see ocean water textures everywhere. There are no inland water textures. Neither in lakes nor in rivers. I have set "Low 2x" as water settings in FSX. Furthermore I am using Steves DX10 Fixer with the water settings attached. ORBX OpenLc and Vector is in use. The Lake Constance, Germany Rhein River, Switzerland: Steves DX10 Fixer water settings (even the preview picture shows what I mean): And my REX texture set which is correct installed: See the greenish/brownish inland water textures I choosed? I dont see them in FSX. Hope you guys can help me Thanks a lot Manuel
  15. Relating to the video from Rob Ainscough showing a black ocean as the "new water and waves" in P3Dv5 Beta https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/572880-p3d-v5-beta-orbx-socal-and-norcal-and-waterwaves/ I want to present the comparison to water and waves in FSX. Enjoy! And yes, it's default. No addons (besides the sceneries), shaders or paint / photoshop used 🙂
