AVSIM is pleased to announce that today AVSIM senior staff met with officials of the Kansas Aviation Museum (KAM) in Wichita, Kansas to discuss the potential for holding a 2013 FANCON in conjunction with the 2013 COCKPIT-FEST USA occurring on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of May, next year. As a result of the meeting we are happy to announce that AVSIM will hold the 2013 FANCON at the KAM in conjunction with the Cockpit-Fest USA event. Over the course of the next month or so, we will be providing more details on the event, the venue and the COCKPIT-FEST itself. Cockpit Fest has been a traditionally UK based event, with the first event held in the U.S. in 2012. Dozens of acquired, refurbished, and homebuit cockpits are exhibited and open to attendees to view and in some cases, operate. KAM, an historic airport in U.S. aviation history is conveniently located in Wichita and adjacent to McConnell Air Force Base. In terms of General Aviation, Wichita is the home of U.S. General Aircraft production, with Cessna and other prominent manufacturers located there. Boeing produces the fuselage of the B737 series there (in fact, adjacent to the museum) and the area today produces over 40% of all GA aircraft purchased around the world, while at one time was producing over 75% of the world's GA aircraft. We are excited to be hosting our FANCON once again, and have a number of announcements regarding the venue for the Awards Banquet, special rates that we negotiated today for hotel rooms and other special events that will take place at the KAM that weekend. Please stay tuned for more news and set your calendar for the 3rd, 4th and 5th of May, 2013. You can discuss the 2013 FANCON, ask questions, and get more detail in our 2013 FANCON SUPPORT FORUM here.
