  1. As delivered, MSFS has a behavior that drives me crazy, and I bet a lot of you hate this, too: you are trying to turn knobs on an instrument panel with the mouse wheel, and if the cursor position drifts even slightly outside of that knob's bounding box, the screen will zoom in or out - and you almost certainly don't want this to happen. Turns out there is a simple fix for this that I read on the Flightsim.to Forum in a post about the Grumman G21 Goose sim from OZX. This tweak comes courtesy of user [https://flightsim.to/profile/MGouge425]: Tip of the day: To prevent accidentally zooming while using the mouse scroll wheel for turning knobs in the cockpit, especially during turbulence, just change the Cockpit Camera zoom command bindings as shown below, which will then require you to hold the right mouse button down to zoom with the scroll wheel. 1. Remove the "MOUSE WHEEL UP" binding from "ZOOM COCKPIT VIEW" 2. Add the "MOUSE WHEEL UP" binding to "ZOOM COCKPIT (LOCKABLE)" 3. Remove the "MOUSE WHEEL DOWN" binding from "UNZOOM COCKPIT VIEW" 4. Add the "MOUSE WHEEL DOWN" binding to "UNZOOM COCKPIT (LOCKABLE)" 5. Add a keybind for "RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON" TO "INTERACTION LOCK". I've tested this, and it works perfectly! No more zooming of the cockpit view while turning knobs, unless you are also holding down the right mouse button at the same time! Happy Landings!
  2. Hello friends, I mostly use MSFS to fly into small unpaved grass or dirt airfields. These are shown in LNM as "Soft or water runways". Currently the icons showing the location of these fields (a white circle with a maroon border) only become visible at zoom level of 1.8nm and below. When I zoom out to beyond 1.8nm zoom level the icon vanishes. I've looked at the menu but couldn't find it - is it possible to make the icons stay visible to any zoom level you can specify? Thanks for any info! 🙂
  3. I have spent a lot of time trying to work out the following: 1. Each camera zooms out to the max, when I zoom in using the = - and save, it's ok until I use another camera then come back to the one I adjusted. (its zoomed out again) If I use the zoom in the camera controls section, it will zoom in, but back to center when I let go of the mouse (default action I think) 2. When I open the UI, the sim pauses? I don't remember it doing that before unless I'm wrong?
  4. Hello, For some reason just recently (last saturday) I have begun encountering this issue. Every preset on the plane has zoomed in some past the normal value. This creates a view to close to aircraft or to far up wing or too close to instruments in cockpit. When I hit backspace the view resets to its default but will just either immediately zoom back in (in cockpit it zooms to .56 outside to .67) or when i switch views back and forth zoom back in. This is rather annoying and would love some help. I tried restarting sim and chaseplane, fixes files, resetting settings nothing has worked. Any tips? Ethan Hunt
  5. Okay guys, I thought I will make an official thread for those of us who are confused about the view system in FSX. I know it can get very confusing, especially for someone new to FSX. It certainly did for me. I'm just now getting the hang of it and would like to share some helpful tips or useful information for others on here. Please forgive me if this information is already on here, but I thought it'd be nice to have 1 thread that covers everything. Ok, let's start. First off, many of you who play FSX are most likely not using the built-in view system and are using a 3rd party addon called EZCA better know as EZDok Camera Addon. You're going to be likely using one or the other and not both simultaneously as this will cause a lot of strange behaviour and conflicts. If you have this addon install, notice that when you start up, that *MOST* of your planes will have a default zoom of 0.40. This can be changed for each aircraft. The files are all located in: C:\Users\{your_username}\AppData\Roaming\EZCA\db\ (you will have to configure your settings to allow you to see hidden files and folders. Each aircraft has its own configuration file and it is stored here. There are 3 folders in here for the 3 distinctive views: aircraft, virtual cockpit, and world. To edit your default view for a particular aircraft, go to that folder. If you want to edit the default virtual cockpit view, then go there and look for your plane's name and load the file up with a text editor. Notepad will do. To change the default zoom level, look for an entry called Zoom=xx, it should be right under [CAMERA]. I believe the a Zoom=26 will get you a 0.30 zoom level when playing. That is the lowest you can go. Once you made your changes, just save the file, and it will pretty much be instantly refreshed when you switch to another view and switch back, you will see your new zoom level! Another thing to look out for is, have you ever encountered a problem with non-clickable buttons when under cockpit view for a certain aircraft? Well the problem with that is, your zoom level is too far back. To fix this, just enter 'EDIT' mode in EZCA and move that view forward until you can click the buttons. I had to find this out the hard way. For those of you who are using an xbox 360 controller with the wireless receiver. Make sure you have the controller turned on before starting FSX. I notice that if you turn it on afterwards, EZCA won't recognize the controller. I was struggling a lot in the beginning with all these views and zoom levels, and now I have a better understanding. Hopefully this information will help others out there. Feel free to contribute to this thread. I will post more helpful stuff as soon as I learn more.
  6. The reality XP GNS 430 appears to be responding incorrectly to XPlane zoom In/zoom Out commands: "sim/GPS/g430n1_zoom_in" and "sim/GPS/g430n2_zoom_out" Zoom In should reduce the range, Zoom out should increase the range. Easiest way to demonstrate is to put the Xplane and RealityXP 430s side by side. Then press the zoom in (down arrow) and zoom out (up arrow) buttons on the XPLANE 430. You will see that the up arrow zooms IN and the down arrow zooms OUT. Note: The Reality XP 430 responds correctly to presses of its own buttons, but incorrectly to the XPlane commands: Why it matters? Prevents proper integration with other X-plane developments (e.g. Air Manager)
  7. I'm new to the 737...I can increase and decrease the screen fine but at some point, the screen goes to full (1.00) and I can no longer reduce (I like to run it at .6). Is there a way to get the screen zoom to start working again?
  8. Hi, Chaseplane has been working fine for me on P3D 4.2 with beta experimental version 4.198. All of the sudden I randomly noticed that the Smooth Zoom does not work properly it is jittery and jumpy. Also mouse panning in the VC randomly freezes and becomes intermittently unresponsive, the same happens when using the arrow keys to move around the cockpit. I remember when first using Chaseplane in V4.2 I had some weird glitchy issues like above but switching to the experimental version fixed this. Since 4.2 was released and up until now I have not had any issues and all those features seemed to work fine. Including on this current version. It was only that today I noticed these issues, closing Chaseplane and relaunching it does not fix this issue. The issue happens in every aircraft also. I even reinstalled Chaseplane and still this has not fixed it. I have not made any recent changes to my sim at all (including during the time that these functions were working correctly). This issue has come on completely randomly and I have not been able to fix it. Any ideas? I think others could be having this issue also from reading another post on another topic about freezing. Also I just realised the topic double posted, apologies, could an admin delete the duplicate. Thanks :) Cheers,
  9. In certain views, not defined by myself, the MMB will scroll to zoom without being pressed down. In every view, when the MMB is pressed and scrolled, it will zoom accordingly. Some views it does this without a press. I've gone into the individual view preferences and disabled this, but they seem to be reactivating themselves. When new views are created it's sometimes the same story. How can I either global disable this or at least have a choice when creating new views? I'm running FSX:SE on Win10.
  10. Hi All, This is my first post, so i am hoping someone can help me. I've noticed in FS9, the zoom in VC is set default .50 Zoom. Now i like this zoom distance, however i have notice the details of the touchdown zone on runways don't appear until you are approx 1 to .5 Miles out. Its really annoying because it just looks like a blank runway until you are really close, and can't use them for reference. If i change the zoom to 1, it appears much further out, which is perfect, however i can't see all my gauges due to the added zoom. Has anyone else noticed this, or better yet, has anyone been able to resolve the issue? FYI, i have a very high powered PC with all full settings running AA and all with 50 FPS... Additionally, i have tweaked my CFG with all the recommendations online. Thanks in advance. Brocky D
  11. When zooming in on the virtual cockpit ive notice that a strip of the ground constantly appears, its just a tiny glitch but it is a bit bothersome. Anyone have the same problem?
  12. Hi there! In P3D, in the virtual cockpit (with or without Ezdok) I was using the Selection (increase)/Selection (decrease) and View (set to default, 1x) to adjust the zoom in the cockpit, and have a close-up view of the instruments for instance. As everyone, I think. It's still working with Chasecam, I simply had to clear the "Wide-view aspect ratio" in the graphics settings to get a reasonable FOV. But what is really annoying me, is that the zoom gets back to some predefined value after a few seconds, especially when the aircraft is moving or flying. And this predefined value is not the one of P3D. If I disable Chaseplane, this behaviour disappears. Does anyone know how to disable this, and how is the zoom logic with Chaseplane with on-board cameras? For example, if I assign the zoom in/out of CP to keys or buttons, it does the job, gets back to this predefined value after a few seconds too, but gets back to the previous zoom value if I use the buttons again. So if I zoom to, say, 2x, the zoom gets back to the default value of 0.3 after 1-2 seconds, if I hit the "zoom in" again it jumps to 2x directly. It feels a bit wrong and is uncomfortable.
  13. I was at a friend of mine who bought OpusFSX for live weather and trying to get me on board as well, the first thing I noticed was the VC zoom using the space bar and mouse was not smooth anymore. Well after some fiddling with options and using grep (for searching inside cfg files) I was able to figure out that every time OpusFSX is launched it updates the cameras.cfg file located next to the fsx.cfg and overwrites the Virtual Cockpit camera definition changing the SmoothZoomTime parameter from 2.0 to 0.0 which leads to no zoom smoothing in the VC. Can the developer comment on why this is done and if there is a way to prevent this change from happening if I am only planning on using OpusFSX for weather?
  14. Dear pilots, just i quick and short question. Does anybody now, where i can change my "standart zoom" for example in the VC, or for the wingviews?? At prensent i have to change it by my own, by clicking to the view example: VC and change it to 40, or all wing views to 50.I want to change it, so that i have always the zooms i´d like to have, without clicking everytime for new...
  15. Hello! This is on the PMDG section because I think i am too zoomed out for my HUD in the NGX 737 to display what it should porperly. When I do CTRL Z twice i get the red notification of FPS and such but in the right corner I dont get how much Im Zoomed in so I cant know what level of zoom im in. This is for FSX, any ideas? Just a small issue Thanks
  16. After restarting my computer chaseplane does not remember the keys I have set to certain presets. It always changes them (example: NUMPAD 0 to NUMPAD 7). I have to reset them every time. Another thing is that I would like to set my mouse wheel to zoom but chaseplane does not reqognize my mouse input in the control assignments. I might be missing some settings so please help and correct me if you can. Have a fun time developing and do not burn yourself, Mikael
  17. Hi pilots! I have 3 monitors and using Surround view. My problem was that in virtual cockpit the instruments was very big and I needed to zoom out. The FSX let me unzoom to 0.30 but was not enaugh. I try many things like WideViewAspect=True in fsx.cfg but that disfigures the view. Then I get very lacky and I found a litle program that changing the zoom. I'll tell you how this program working and hope you help me to find it again because after a format on my PC I lost it (how stupid I am???). So first openning the FSX and the view of virtual cockpit. Then I opening this litle program and writing the percentage of zoom I want to use. I remember it was seperate for vertical and horizontal zoom. Then pushing a button the view changing immediately. Did you know where can I find again this program?? Please help. * I've try to do the same with EZdoc but when I zoom out to the position I want I see the back of the pilot seat and hide everything.
