SHOWTIME The long awaited Panel upgrade and GTN/AP/mods are now available

There are screenshots taken at various levels of completion throughout this forum but, your CJ2 Mod Squad is now ready to show off some outstanding updates and modifications for our Carenado CJ2 Citation.

I'm sure someone will post an overview with some neat screenshots, but for now I am going to just tease you with a few basic ones to get you started.

<<<< 3 screenshots at the end of this novel >>>>

We had a short beta test and found a few rough edges but overall we feel our package is well worth the price you are paying.

This is not a completed piece of work as we expect to continue with minor updates and additions. As a matter of fact, I just drew a line in the sand and cut off the updates so we could get this initial package out to you.

The highlights are:

This will provide you the custom files and folders necessary to install your Flight1 GTN750 in the VC. The GTN will work as an installed unit inside the frame but will easily popup for resizing, moving, unlocking or another monitor and access the buttons on the GTN frame.

The nagging feature of engaging the NAV mode has been completely fixed. You may have to teach yourself to make a few self checks, like are you in the GPS or VLOC mode, is the PFD source properly selected using the Preset selector, and you do indeed have a flight plan loaded or a Direct TO waypoint selected.

Another biggie, is the Engine Instrument and Fuel Monitoring station is now located front and center just below the glareshield and can be cycled with the Annunciator panel with a single mouse click. The Annundiator panel can also be zoomed for tired old eyes, like mine.

A lot of under the hood work has been going on by Bert and Janek to eradicate the last of the bugs in the AP, especially those intermittent little gremlins in the FLC code. Early reports today from Berlin is that the FLC is now free and clear of bugs and should be working like it should.

New fonts, increased text sizes and new annunciations will appear on your PFD. The airspeed tape will keep you entertained now that Carenado has tweaked the performance parameters a bit. Overspeed will come quicker than before but you will hear it coming and see the colors changing and flashing digits.

Those of us who just can't have enough convenient clickspots will think we have won the lottery. We have created some additional etchings on the PFD frame to help you locate most of the new ones. We will probably have several level of etching over time, from barely visible to the Readers Digest Large Sized Print edition like this starter edition.

These are much more than a simple clickspot, they are more lime invisible knobs and sliders that you can use your mouse pointer or scroll wheel to make adjustments in Speeds, heading, courses, altitudes, VSI rates, etc. Some benefits are that you can use the tooltips for very accurate readings as you are making this adjustments.

One of my personal favorites is that we now have an ALT knob where Cessna should have put it twenty years ago. This imitation 3D knob works in the VC and on the Popup PFD from both seats.

There are are lot more Easter Eggs, so download it, install it, sit on the ramp and enjoy the new features, then go fly and see if Janek is correct about the FLC.

Best Regards,

Janek, Bert, Ramon, and yours truly,

Ray

Hi Ray,

First off - thanks so much for you and your teams contributions - you guys should be on the Carenado payroll...

Bigger fonts on the PFD tapes - YES !!! I have to zoom in within inches to read the defaults - not a good idea on short final...

I'll make a point of testing this over the weekend - I'm currently in the middle of a complete rebuild going from P3Dv3.1 to P3Dv3.2 - for various reasons I needed a fresh start...

Regards,
Scott

Thanks Ray

For bringing all this together, and in a nice/easy package.

Cheers.

Ramón.

When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

I just downloaded the mod "CJ2 GTN + clickspots Mod v1.1" and am now heading over to Carenado to purchase the CJ2. Note the sequence of events here...

Thanks Ray, Bert, Janek, Ramon, and all Test Pilots who made this possible.

Brian

Great work, don't have the CJ2 as it would be my 6th biz jet but considering getting it after these superb mods. Really appreciate all your efforts.

Hans

.... sounds great guys,  I don't have the GTN so am feeling really left out. You mentioned that there was work done under the hood re the FLC problem....  was there any improvement work done to the DTO function too ?

....ooops sorry I've got brain fade...  you're using the GTN for Lateral NAV and the DTO function of Carenado isn't used....

With the combined knowledge you've gained of some of the under hood workings... do you think you could improve the stock version without the GTN mod and or incorporate some of the extra clickspot features etc..

Good idea, Carenado should hire the team as freelancers, seriously.

Hi Folks,

Just curious - is there away to set the CDI and preselect altitude to key/joystick mappings - they aren't part of the standard bindings available to us...

+1 Isn't this a good sign of a community working to achieve the maximum possible for its members? At the verge of Tom's memorial flight I am sure he is proud of that.
