747X & Win 10

Recommended Posts

I have discovered through trial and error, that, when installing the 747X into FSX on Windows 10 invariably it will break other GUI apps on WIN10.

In my case, specifically, the built in Spider Sollitaire.

Through elimination I found that the problem was related to VS2008.

This week, SP1 for VS2008 appeared in my windows update list, so I tried istalling the 747X again, but NOT allowing it to install VS2008 (which was now installed and updated to SP1) and went through all of the proceedures as before.

This time, everything is still working, so, i would say now, that to Install the 747X into FSX on win 10, you must update the VS2008 redistrib package to SP1 before running Flight sim to avoid other things being broken!

Steve.
