June 11, 200322 yr Dear PMDG, I would first like to say great work so far, I am keeping a keen eye on this project. The eye-candy is great and by various posts, system logic and such is away ahead of anything before. My question relates to the engines. I have not once, freeware or payware seen a jet-turbine engine, e.g. the CFM-56 start like the real engines do. I find it incredible to which some "FS" engine start, you can have both engine started within 45 seconds. Have you overcome this problem? What I am meaning, does the engine start is a realistic time like the real engine. I sure hope so, it's just a small thing that annoys me. I can have the engines started before the end of the pushback procedure. Please PMDG. Many things in advance. hah Robert can't complain I don't sign my name! -----------------------[bR]Matthew Murray[bR]Jet-Precision[bR] http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
June 11, 200322 yr Yes, realistic engine start times... Those of you annoyed by this problem will be surprised to know that it IS possible to achieve this by tweaking the .air file. I have no idea why nobody has ever done this correctly. I would like to see PMDG set an example for other developers.Thomas
June 12, 200322 yr Commercial Member Gents,Magic numbers to look for at CFM56 engine idle are 2:4:6 i.e. about two-enty (20%) N1, four-hundred plus EGT, six-ty (60%) N2. The complete engine start up procedure is fully simulated and spool up times are modelled to the second (or to be precise to the 0.75 second).Cheers,Vangelis====================================== E. June 12, 200322 yr That's good enough for me...Sounds like you guys are really serious about this 'NG'..Regards,jack noullet
June 12, 200322 yr >That's good enough for me...Sounds like you guys are really>serious about this 'NG'..That is an understatement, lemme tell ya ;-)
June 19, 200322 yr This is fabulous news.I also feel the same way about the pathetic starts of most payware and freeware turbofans. Although, the PIC767 boys did a pretty decent job with the CF6 start; a little fast, but the fuel flowed only after it was turned on, N1 rotation was smooth, and it didn't overshoot the idle speed too bad.James
June 19, 200322 yr If i remember rightly, Eric Ernst (or whoever the 767 captain was) said the engines on PIC spooled too slowly!Anyway, i have noo idea about start times on 737 but im sure its modeled as accuratly as possible which is good news :DLiam
