July 1, 200322 yr Hi allThis is my first ever posting on this forum, but I just thought i'd let you all know about something that I have just discovered on my test flight.I know it may sound stupid, but from what I can see, the APU seems to start itself during midflight.Im just about to descend into Glasgow after a short UK domestic flight from Gatwick and I too noticed the fuel imbalance between the left and right wing tanks. I checked up on the overhead and although the APU master switch was in the off position, the APU GEN light was illuminated and I had an EGT reading on the APU EGT gauge. I definately switched off the APU after engine start, but when I looked a few minutes ago, it seems to have started it again - God knows why.I dont know if anyone else has noticed this, but I thought i'd post my findings just incase it has anything to do with the fuel imbalance.Apart from that though, I am very pleased with this package overall. Cant wait for the manuals and a chance to add proper SIDS and STARS into the FMC. I love the visual model, I love the Panel and the sounds are brilliant aswell.I must have been fortunate by not having any problems at all recieving the confirmation email and downloading the final installation file.Another thing I have noticed is that the guys at PMDG have incorporated proper floodlight effects on the main panel despite them saying in a previous post they wouldnt. That was a nice bonus !!Congratulations guys - You've created a master piece with this one.Best regards,Lee Holland.
July 1, 200322 yr Thanks for your nice comments!Your fuel system might be set up incorrectly and as such the engines only draw from one tank. Go to your FS2002 fuel menu and check that the fuel selector is set to ALL.
July 1, 200322 yr Hi Marc. Thanks for your prompt reply.I have just checked the fuel settings in FS2002 and the selector is definately set to all tanks. Also, the fuel is being drawn out of the right tank - Just not as quickly as it is being drawn out of the left tank.Im just wondering why it looks as though the APU has started itself in-flight. the selector is switch is in the off position, but I have an APU GEN light illuminated and an APU EGT reading.I have just tried cycling the switch to on, then start and back off again to see what happened. The APU GEN light goes off for about 3 seconds and the APU EGT starts to decrease for the same amount of time, then the APU GEN light comes back on and the APU EGT starts to rise again.Very strange I must admit. I thought it may just be a small glitch, but when you click on the button to transfer the electical load onto the APU itself, it actually works as it would if you were parked at the gate prior to engine shutdown where the engine generator lights illuminate and the APU GEN light goes off. Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated. I just dont know how this could happen. I certainly havent got any keyboard shortcuts mapped to the APU (I dont think there is a key assignment for this in FS2002 anyway). The only keys I tend to use in flight are the number pad keys to cycle views around the 2D cockpit. The rest of the time, I use your view change buttons on the main panel or the mouse to select switches and controls, etc.Regards,Lee Holland.
