July 3, 200322 yr Dear Rob and the rest of the PMDG team,Got the aircraft yesterday and absolutely loving it. Randy was right when he kept mentioning about the flight dynamics, and how good they were.I have a childhood buddy of mine who is a Captain on the 700/800 for Jet Airways here in India. After a couple of days he and I are going to sit down and test the package as comprehensively as possible. I will make a list of the observations he makes, albeit, his airline uses the EFIS/MAP display. I will also keep in mind FS limitations. I hope you guys dont mind :-)One thing for now that I noticed is after landing I get a *flashing* R or A or something like that in the MCP Speed window, just to the left of the Vapp figure which I have set in the Speed window. It goes away after I disengage the FD bars. Please note I disengae AP and AT for approach and landing. I asked him about it and he says there is nothing like this on the actual a/c.Overall fabulous package guys!! Truly outstanding. I cant imagine you guys improving on it featurewise :-)Lol,Dinshaw.P.S. On the 800/900 will you consider individual switch operation for the landing lights? Just like CaptainSim 727 ??
July 3, 200322 yr underspeed indicator... indeed exists.. (he fortunately never set his MCP speed near stall speed )cheers, anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com
July 3, 200322 yr Author Anthony,Thanks a ton for the reply. I have not set it either near stall speed, it was set for Vref + wind correction, speed was maintained on the bug. It happens on the roll out.Nevertheless thanks, shall ask him about the underspeed indicator. Again, could it be an airline/operator option?Lol,Dinshaw.
July 3, 200322 yr That flashing character on the MCP means that the selected speed is too low for the current flap setting(meaning that you will stall ;-))IOW, an underspeed indicator :)
July 3, 200322 yr Author Fred,I think you hit the nail on the head. I did a quick circuit and watched my speed control on the Approach and Landing. All fine. No flashing. But after braking and turning off the runway, I now noticed when I retracted the flaps, it would start flashing when the flaps moved between 5 and UP. If I extended them back to 5, the flashing would stop. Back to UP it would start again until I disengaged the FD's.The issue I was trying to make was that I would get this on the ground, not in the air. I dont know if the NG has an air/ground switch like the classics to "tell" the a/c if it is in the air or on the ground. If on the ground, there is no question of stalling or low speed for current flap settingThanks for your inputs Fred and Anthony,Dinshaw.
