July 5, 200322 yr It seems as though some SIDs and probably STARS have errors steming from inproperly defined NAVAIDS. Usually with 'soft' waypoints (sorry if thats a non english terminology) such as MCT06 on NOKIN1S from Manchester or D298B on DEENA1FS from LLBG.These waypoints end up thousends of miles away from where they are supposed to be, maybe due to another waypoint with a similar name.In any case, these and other SID/STARS are corrupt. Is there a way to fix this? some kind of small utility to detect "ilogical" procedures?Thanx//Mike
July 5, 200322 yr I just did a flight from Luton to Manchester and chose the Dayne1A arrival. Waypoints were Dayne, SLP, 24R. The SLP waypoint was NE of Dayne so the whole STAR was wrong. Also, I turned towards final before reaching Dayne so I wanted the next waypoint to be 24R. I tried to click 24R and then click Dayne to overwrite it but that failed. I tried to delete Dayne but that failed. I had to manually tune the ILS.This is exactly what I was afraid of when I found out the 737 was going to rely on user generated procedures - my experience is they are full of bugs - not all of them obviously! On a more positive note, the flight model is superb, flight director great and it tracks the ILS like its on rails! If only world procedures were included, updateable accross the web.Ray Keattch.
July 5, 200322 yr Ray --The NG does not autotune ILS navaids in real life, and as a consequence neither does the PMDG one ;-)
July 5, 200322 yr --FredI don't think he was trying to autotune, the way I understand it he was trying to overcome the wrong location of the waypoints by deleting them through bringing the runway to the 1LSK position. This is the way one will do it with 767PIC or DF737, maybe its wrong in RL and sim for the NG and maybe its a bug. I guess we wouldn't know until the manual is released.regards//Mike
July 5, 200322 yr That may well be but I was trying to get the 24R waypoint to be the next one, after I turned to final before crossing the previous waypoint - no way I could get rid of it!What really got me was the very first STAR I selected in the whole world had a problem with it. This is what I was worried about when learning the procedures had to be programmed by users.Ray Keattch.
