FR Problems - my problem.....

Featured Replies

Hi guys!Like many people here, I am experiencing terrible stuttering while trying to fly the 737. This is in ALL cases - even with the just 2D models. It's not so much a low framerate, but a continuous fluctuation +/- 40 fps with unlimited FRs set. Even when stationary on startup (which seems to take ages to load), the FRs fluctuate wildly causing unflyable stuttering. I have not experienced this with any other aircraft (payware or freeware), and as I say, it doesn't seem to be VC related as I'm not even loading the VC versions.Any ideas ??Many thanks,JonathanAMD Athlon 2400XP512MB Ram (DDR400)SB Live!GForce4 Ti4200

Hi Jonathan, try setting a max FPS in the FS menu, I have it locked at 30 FPS have your same specs except for a 64 MB Geforce 4.I use only the 2D versions and I get even with ActiveSky WXre, flying online and some add-on sceneries between 20 and 30 FPS, the least I got was maybe 15FPS in a heavy traffic situation.Hope this might help.Regards,Bjorn

Thanks Bjorn, but I have tried setting a limit - it still fluctuates wildly. Any other ideas?Jonathan

The SoundBlaster Live MIGHT be giving you problems. Try turning off the sound (Q) and see if there is any change in the FPS. Also make sure the full acceleration slider for your sound card is set to max. If it is already max try knocking it down a notch or two and see if there is any effect. I have had lots of grief with mine and have removed it from the system altogether. I either use the sound system on the MB or my PCI 128 card. If you notice any changes messing around with the "Q" and slider then try removing the card from the computer altogether and remove the driver from device manager and see what happens...(Just as a test) Mike B.
