July 11, 200322 yr Hello everyone,This is more of an informative posting than anything so take it for what it is worth. I have been asked to share the autopilot test work to the world for general information.I have been working with the autopilot all week with excellent support from Vangelis. We have pushed it to the absolute limits with a few test scenarios to see if she will stay well inside of the CFR requirement for Category III certification. Most of what I read about issues with the ILS system, autoland, and general operation of the AP/FD systems are user error (please, NO ONE TAKE ANY OFFENSE AS I WAS KING OF USER ERROR HERE TO START!).Following the manual will produce a very functional and highly tolerant autopilot. Test cases have been flown, with outlandish unrealistic intercepts, to demonstrate the tolerance and true functionality of the system. 90 degree intercepts at high speeds (greater than 190KIAS) have resulted in perfect landings. Normal intercepts obviously produce the same.Combing through AVSIM postings have led me to believe that many of the autopilot defects reported are, indeed, a result of procedure and usage of the system. It does not operate like the default FS2002 737
