How do i have to insert the airways into the legs section of the fms ? thank you for any reply

You can't enter airways from the LEGS page, only the ROUTE page. You don't have to enter airways if you don't want to. In the absence of an airway, it is direct between the waypoints.Lee Hetherington (KBED)

"How do i have to insert the airways into the legs section of the fms ?"Do you already have a route in mind, Mr(?) Meier? Firstly, you need to know the airway structure between your departure airport and your arrival airport. Here's a simple example between Sydney, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand although I haven't tried it in PMDG....Our airline calls it "SYDAKL001", but you might like to change it to YSSYNZAA for simplicity. Here's how it appears on our airline's Route page(s)........YSSYDIR...EVONNL521.....AADIR....NZAAAirways are listed on the left hand side, waypoints on the right hand side.1. Airport ICAO codes are currently not accepted in PMDG as waypoints (I know the Classic 737 accepts them, but I'm not sure about the NG), so you could enter "SY" (the nearest VOR to YSSY) on the right hand side of the Route page, in place of YSSY (Normally, "DIR"ect will appear automatically on the left hand side every time you make an entry on the right hand side without there being something on the left hand side, but the first entry, i.e. the starting point, doesn't generate the DIRect lettering).2. Enter "EVONN" on the right hand side of the Route page. This is waypoint at which you will enter the following airway....2. Enter "L521" on the left hand side (the airway's name)3. Enter "AA" on the right hand side (on the same line). This is where you get off the airway.4. Forget about NZAA for the time being (AA is the airport VOR, so you shouldn't have any problems finding the airport from here).Basically, that's it..........SYDIR...EVONNL521.....AAOn the Legs page(s), the individual waypoints will be automatically listed.SYEVONN....etcAA.If your Navigation Database is up to date, you shouldn't have any trouble entering something like this.Don't forget to enter the departure/arrival airports on the upper part of the Route page. Hope this helps.Cheers.Ian.

You probably don't need the SY (or YSSY) at the top of the route. I think that is implied if your ORIG airport is YSSY. You'll automatically get a direct from your departure runway to the first waypoint you put on the ROUTE page, which in this case would be EVONN. Unless, Ian, you're supposed to overfly YSSY after taking off before heading toward EVONN.Lee Hetherington (KBED)

"You probably don't need the SY (or YSSY) at the top of the route."You're probably right about the SY, Lee.... but I have no say in what my company uses as a first and last waypoint (i.e. an airport ICAO) ;-) These are generated when you enter a Co Route.BTW, does the Smiths FMC, found on all(?) 737's, automatically delete the airport ICAO after selecting a SID? Does it also seamlessly link up SIDS with Co Routes if they share a common waypoint? (i.e. not so much messing around with Discontinuities).Thanks.Cheers.Ian.
