August 3, 200322 yr For those of you getting really good performance from your Radeon 9700 pro, what are your settings and which ones seem to do the most good, fps-wise?Thx
August 4, 200322 yr Hello sludge,I have most settings turned on and up all the way, with a few exceptions. I get good performance, with an exception. I get somewhat bad framerates when looking at or when I am near/in cities. Sometimes real bad. Maybe due to using MyTraffic 2004? But otherwise doing fine and I can live with the poor city fps for now and I don't want to turn MyTraffic off. But I might to see if it makes any difference. Although I don't think it's the culprit. Seems to be when it comes to drawing the 3D buildings. I'm hoping for improvements in future driver revisions. And of course, a fix to the darned annoying flashes. Here's a description of my settings.Resolution: 1600x1200 on desktop and in-game. I play the game in Full Screen mode only. I have frame rates locked at 25 fps. And other than problem with cities, it stays there. I have Anti-Aliasing set in my driver(display properties) at 4x and unchecked in FS2004. Anisotropic Filtering set at 8x and set on performance, rather than quality.Scenery:Everything is checked and all Sliders fully to the right except Terrain Detail, which is in the middle.1) Terrain mesh complexity - 1002) Terrain texture size - High3) Terrain detail - Land only4) Water effects - High5) Dawn/Dusk texture blending - checked6) Extended terrain textures - checked7) Scenery complexity - Extremely dense8) Auto-gen density - Extremely dense9) Add-on dynamic scenery - checked and set to Extremely dense10) Ground sceney casts shadows - checked11) Sun glare - checked12) Lens flare - checkedAircraft:1) Global aircraft quality - High2) Virtual cockpit guage quality - High2) Reflections - checked3) Aircraft cast shadows - checked4) Landing Lights - checkedWeather:1) Sight distance - 100 mi.2) Cloud draw distance - 70 mi.3) 3-D Cloud percentage - 804) Cloud Detail set on 'Detailed CLouds'5) Cloud coverage density - Slider set to 'High'Hardware:1600x1200x321) Render to Texture - checked2) Transform and lighting - checked3) Anti-Aliasing - unchecked (set in driver by unchecking 'Application Preference' and set to 4x)4) MIP mapping quality - 4 (I have heard you should leave this on 4!)5) Hardware rendered lights - 8See my signature for driver version. Ok, guess that's about it. I'd be interested in seeing some other folks' setting too sludge.Take Care,Jimmy Richards
August 4, 200322 yr BillYou know this is the second time that you have posted non PMDG related posts. There are other forums right here on Avsim that you can use that are more appropriate than this one.The reason I say this is that the NG and the patch has just been released and you are taking up space which is bumping PMDG related support questions.Oh and by the way in case you might not know this subject has been beaten to death in the forums so you might want to try using the search feature that I know happens to work very well.Best RegardsKurt
