Wind Indicator. Relative? Absolute?

Featured Replies

I have two questions I have been thinking about for quite a time:I always had a problem with the ND Wind Indicator. Which way does the wind blow? With the arrow, or towards it?And, this gets me even more confused: Setting wind direction to 90deg in FS2004, that obviously means the wind are coming from the East. OK. When I check in the 737 ND, I see 270deg as the wind direction....? Something to do with absolute and relative direction, I know, but me head are just locked regarding this issue...Hope somebody are able to put me straight here :)

If you have a wind indication 350/22, the wind blows FROM the North at 22 kts. Wind from Spitzbergen :) hope that helps

Wind from Spitzbergen, ok, Danke Sehr :)But how about the 90degrees shown in the FS2K4 weather dialog, and 270degrees shown in the ND display?

I still use FS2002, never have seen a mismatch between the ND wind indicator and FS data. Jeg vet ikke hva som skjer i den nye simulasjonen :-) hilsen

Hehe, det var som pokker, Andreas ;)I cannot remember how the ND arrow was compared to the weather dialog in FS2002. I gotta jump into the Fly II planes and see how it is there. The mauals are not much up to explaining this...Med Hilsen,

This is the first time in my life I`m bumping my own post. Always had a bad feeling about doing this, but today is the day. If I can`t really KNOW if the FS2K4 wind direction and the 737NG ND direction is the same or different, I will definately have a problem flying in the future. You know, in real-life you can just stick your head out the window and find out. Well, it is not the case in a simulator.(Sigh)..
