FS 2004 for the first time

Featured Replies

Hi, I installed today FS 2004 and of course the first thing which I installed was the PDMG.1. It doesnt recognize navdata: I opened a folder called FMCWP and installed there the navdata and not possible to recognize it2. the electrical panel is behind the main panel, so, you can not see it completely, but just the upper half of the panel3. the sound is completely cut, with lots of cuts, all the time, so, not continuous4. also the panel is flickering, so in spaces of seconds it appears and disappears all the time5. and of course, the eternal question of the frame rates: not really famous!!! I have athlon 2500 XP, 512 DDR 333, and geforce 2 - GTO/PRO with 64 megabites6. not possible to load cold and dark cockpit, and of course as in FS 2002 the engines are always ON and not at the cut off positionSome ideas?Coimbra

Hi!Just curious, have download and installed SU1?1. What dou you mean "doesn't recognize navdata" have you downloaded and installed airac-latest is 0308 (I suggest from www.navdata.at), by using auto installer it should be in proper place here is mine: C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9(or FS2002)FMCWPNavData.2. Have you tried by using simicon "M Z A L F O T R I" just clik "M" to back to main page.3. What is your sound card? if you have sound blaster Live! I suggest to download new driver (before that I've that problem also)4. I have ASUS V8200T Gforce 3 TI200, and I don't have that problem, play with driver and setting.5. Mine is acceptable, try to trade off with fs2004 setting.6. Saved cold & dark flight is included in SU1.Regards.

.

Hi, Sorry, but cold and dark still stays a problem in both FS 2002 and 2004. The cut off engines are always in the upper position and they should be in the lower position.

HI, I dont have sound card. My motherboard has onboard sound so I dont need sound card to do it. Any suggestions? It is strange that the sounds are only interrupted every second or 2 seconds in all zones with lower frame rates. The sound is continuous if I have a lot of frames (which doesnt happen quite often). It happens with PMDG but also with other addons.Coimbra

Hi Coimbra,The onboard soundcards still require a driver. See if you can get a WHQL driver for it if it doesn't already have one. Check in DxDiag to see if it's a WHQL driver and see if there's any problems reported in the DxDiag utility. It'll probably show what kind of(name) card it is in the device manager. Make sure you have the latest drivers for it. Besides, sorry to say, but most of those onboard cards are crap. I would recommend disabling that onboard card in your BIOS and buying a good soundcard and installing it your system. But hey, you might be able to fix the problem by updating the drivers for it, or some other way.Regards,Jim Richards

Hi, It says:Drivers:Name: smwdm.sysWHQL Logo

Agree, browse to your computer or M/B manufacture, probably there are new drivers for your onboard soun card. If cost is not a big problem, I suggest to buy a new sound card, and disable the onboard one in your BIOS setting.About cold start setting, you can cut the fuel (ctrl+shift+F1 -> default assigned key) and save as new cold start flight. Hope it helps. Thanks.

Yeah, what Dennise 'flying pilot' said. The only other things I can think of is if there isn't newer drivers for the onboard sound card and you have Sound Quality set n High, try Medium, and/or submit a bug report about the problem to the manufacturer. Overall though, get a new Sound Card, like the one I have. It's made for gaming, hehe.Jim Richards
