Glasgow Runway 05 New Galloway 1J SID:Climb straight ahead to GLG NDB (crossing above 2000ft). Turn left onto PTH R240. At TRN R013, turn left onto TRN vor R009. At NORBO, turn left onto NGY NDB QDM 146 to NGY NDB.I have everything working EXCEPT for the "Turn left onto PTH Radial 240".No matter how I word it, the (INTC) for this ends up nowhere near where it should be, generally it seems like it ignores the left turn aspect and just flys straight from GLG until tripping over the 240 radial. Please clue me in.Ray

Ray,I would implement the turn left... as HDG... INTERCEPTBelow is the MA proc for LSGG ILS23 (new stuff, not yet released) :RNW 23 MAPROC NAVAID PAS HDG 136 INTERCEPT RADIAL 220 FROM NAVAID SPR HOLD AT NAVAID SPR INBOUNDCOURSE 226 ALT 7000 SPEED 185Note the NAVAID PAS *HDG 136 INTERCEPT* RADIAL 220 FROM NAVAID SPRThe heading 136 is my implementation of "turn left" after PAS. Have a look at the chart and choose a realistic heading. If you can't figure it out, post what you coded. I'll check.anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com

Hi Anthony,I tried to help Ray with this SID, but I too got an intercept some 64 nm from the VOR. We both did try a hdg (Please check a thread on this SID about 2-4 days ago - the details are there with what we did.)Any help here would be appreciated - this has happened often to me with the HDG XXX INTERCEPT part of the syntax. Maybe I am doing something wrong too - I will post again later on this topic thread.ThanksBryan

EGPF.TXTSID NGY1J RNW 05 NAVAID GLG 2000 HDG 274 INTERCEPT RADIAL 240 FROM NAVAID PTH HDG 240 UNTIL RADIAL 020 FROM NAVAID TRN HDG 240 UNTIL RADIAL 013 FROM NAVAID TRN HDG 225 INTERCEPT RADIAL 008 FROM NAVAID TRN NAVAID NORBO NAVAID NGY 6000Note the turn left at GLG to 274 intercepting radial 240 from PTH ... just like you have shown above. It doesn't do it, it flys a heading of 54 all the way out to PTH then executes the HDG 240 and comes back to (TRN020)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/33362.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/33363.jpgsorry about the clutter on this one, but i put the fixes for PTH & TRN on so you can see that all other points line up perfectly. You will note the (INTC) is located past PTH instead of about level with GLG on the fix line.Rayedit: heres sorta what I was expecting:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/33364.jpg

I finally could find some time to check it out.Ok, some good news, some bad news...First the good news :I finally tracked it down to be an error in the maths intercept code that would happen in some conditions. This could explain also other trouble reports I got. I corrected it and the sid looks right now.The bad news :I cannot find a workaround. So the fix will not be available to you for some time. I have to discuss with with the team, and as I modified the maths deep in the code, we have to conduct some thorough testing, to make sure nothing got broken... Stay tuned...Awfully sorry !anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com

Hey, no problem Anthony, I've been with you guys since the original bird, time is a relative thing ;-) Knowing is half the battle so if we have some issues with SIDs for now, there are simple workarounds like inventing some FIX locations to get us by. Such is life.As long as it's around by the time I pay MacPaint to do my custom interior when you get the BBJ2 version of the 737 out, I'll be happy :D Ray

Hahaha, so thats how I broke it, bad math.Told her to turn so far that she overshot the second waypoint and gave you a divide by 0 so you shot me off a hundred miles to teach me a lesson :D Great stuff, that was a fairly complex SID due to this silly little hill sitting at the end of Rnw 05. Only thing missing now is that first altitude constraint is 2000A not 2000, something to do with the hill }( Thanks!Ray

2000*A*...Assuming you fly LVL CHG or VNAV SPD for climbs, in fact you don't need (nor want) to program 2000A, because in these modes, the aircraft will "get the hell out of there" and climb as much as it can... you might use MAX ANGLE or MAX RATE on CLB page...In exactly this situation, the constraint is there to warn pilots, not to actually command VNAV... (Assuming you get the message "UNABLE NEXT ALT", you'd be in dire straights ;-))So it's better *not* to constrain the aircraft at 2000 at all and check the legs page alt prediction at GLG to see if you're going to play hide and seek with that hill !Makes sense ?anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com
