September 12, 200322 yr What is the procedure with the NG for a GA on missed approach?I performed one manually the other night, however I didn't get alt. callouts on my next final, nor could I get the MCP to engage in any mode (seemed to be "stuck" in APP, which I had used until about 2000', when I went to manual on the first approach). Thanks!
September 12, 200322 yr "I performed one manually the other night, however I didn't get alt. callouts on my next final,...."This is a known anomaly, Mr? (Please provide your name as per forum rules ;-)). Perhaps the SU-2 beta testers could tell us if this is fixed or not ;-)".... nor could I get the MCP to engage in any mode (seemed to be "stuck" in APP, which I had used until about 2000', when I went to manual on the first approach)."It's not clear, here, if your A/P was still engaged when you initiated the Go Around. Did you use the TOGA switch (or rather, the screwhead on the PMDG MCP?) If you did, the A/P should have switched away from the APP modes.By the way, were you actually below 2000' before you initiated the Go Around (Go Around is not active below this height). To change the modes displayed during an A/P coupled approach, like most Boeings, you will not only have to disengage the A/P's, you will have to cycle the FD switches also. I'd say, if you were above 2000' when you initiated/tried to initiate your Go-Around, then you would have to do this.Hope this helps.Cheers.Ian.
September 12, 200322 yr No, I did the Go Around manually, and then fought with the MCP a bit trying to get it into HDG/ALT/VS (any of them) mode. A/T worked with no problem. I tried cycling the FD, however every time I activated CMD A, it *appeared* that the A/C was attempting to restablish the approach. I say appeared, because I would immediately disable CMD A when the A/C started to pitch down and roll.Perhaps one needs to cycle the FD in some particular order to get a reset? i.e. disconnect A/P completely, cycle FD, reconnect, etc. I'll play around with it some more.Thanks!Jesse.
September 12, 200322 yr SU2 implements waypoints beyond the runway if you remember Anthony's screen shot some time back... This will probably help your headaches as you have somewhere to go beyond the airport runway already in the FMC.Ray
September 13, 200322 yr Hi Jesse,In the real plane, once VOR/LOC and G/S are both engaged you can only exit the approach mode by pressing a TOGA button or by disengaging the A/P(s) and turing off both F/Ds. Retuning the NAV receiver will also do it.From an operational point of view, TOGA is always pressed for a go-around even if hand flying the plane.
