Is there a formula or something that one uses to calculate the cruise level for a flight? For instance, I am sure that the cruise altitude is not the same for a flight 200-300 miles versus one which is 300-700 and so on. ThanksMike MarzettKDFW

If it was implemented, I believe TRIP ALT on the PERF INIT page would be useful for this purpose. I believe it is the maximum altitude that satisfies some minimum cruise time for a given cost index.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
