November 2, 200322 yr Hi all,I would like to know the right/best way to perform a Go Around.Last time I tried, both my landing gear and my flaps were damaged. How do I quickly abort the landing, and get away from the airport quickly? Or it does not need to be done so quickly? Maybe there exists an explaination already, which I have overlooked? Thanks in advance,Nico
November 3, 200322 yr Best way is to wait until SU2 when a dual-channel autopilot go-around will hopefully work properly ;)As the software is right now, the automatics can be a pain during a go-around. A manual go-around is flown like so:1. Set go-around thrust of about 90%N12. Set flaps 15 and smoothly pitch up to maintain Vref+153. Gear up upon positive rate of climb4. At 1500ft agl, set climb power of about 88%N1 and pitch down to accelerate to at least the clean speed (set MCP speed bug too)5. Once speed starts to rise, set flaps 5 and continue to raise flaps normally at the appropriate speeds6. Level off at the missed approach altitude and do the after takeoff checksIn most cases a go-around is a non-rushed affair rather like a normal takeoff. Likely reasons are traffic on the runway or if not visual by decision altitude on a non-autoland approach.
