November 7, 200322 yr Ok, good morning/afternoon. Could someone please let me know the name of the STAR in to KDCA that weaves around to protect a bunch of sissies on the ground that have sensitive ears and paintings on their walls? I'm also not sure what runway(s) it/they are associated with. Also, will the FMC know the name KDCA or do I have to call it K?Thanks so much. I have the 0310 cycle. First of all, I will never call this airport by its new name. Gee, let's name an airport after the guy who fired all the air traffic coordinators... Makes sense to me...not. Second, I'm anti-noise abatement. Let them move if they don't like it! Why they would make an approach much more dangerous for passengers because some dopes on the ground can't handle a little noise? Plus, more gas, more money for tickets, more natural resources needed from our planet...Ha ha...sorry.Thanks for letting me spout off a bit...Sam Mantel, III
November 7, 200322 yr Hi Sam,Actually the DCA noise abatement procedures are applicable only to departures. Basically, they require departing aircraft fly up (or down) the potomac until reaching a certain DME fix (4DME departing north). The LDA and river visual into runway 1, which I am lucky enough to see first hand every day from my apartment (and usually every Monday morning on a beautiful Delta 737-800), is flown the way it is because a straight in approach would cross directly over the white house and washington monument which is, of course, restricted airspace.Take care,Jeff

We had a conference room on the 11th floor with windows facing north. We had to enforce a "blinds closed except on break" policy - otherwise no work got done!;-)-michael
