Markers?

Featured Replies

I have heard that you cannot hear the marker sounds in PMDG. Yet not only can I not hear them, I cannot see them. WHats up with this?I have flown over 30 flights since Ive gotten the NG, and have yet to see the markers.Brad Zimmer

Are you sure that the airfields you are flying to still have marker beacons fitted? Most places are actually removing them.I've heard and seen the marker beacon on occasion, sadly I do not recall which airfield I was at. I do know though that they work.Hope this helps.

Good point! You can use the keystroke combo in FS to activate them even without a panel in the airplane, or...Do a search on this forum under "audio panel" and you'll find a post of mine on how to add the default 737 audio panel to the PMDG.

Start up in the 172, and click mkr on. All your aircraft will then have the beacon sounds. My issue is they are insanely LOUD, and make it hard for me to communicate with ATC.

Most places are actually removing the markers? Sorry dude, but any serious airfield that supports CAT II or III approaches has to have the markers, they are a very very important part of the approach!

Sorry dude,>but any serious airfield that supports CAT II or III>approaches has to have the markers, they are a very very>important part of the approach!Forgive me Not wanting to sound patriotic, but LONDON's THREE MAIN airports, Heathrow, Gatwick & Stansted DO NOT HAVE MARKERS. Having been based at all three over the years in real life I can also confirm that ALL THREE airports have CAT IIIC capability includingASMI (Aircraft Surface Movement indicator. If Memory serves, Gatwick had its markers removed circa 1995. DME or lctr beacons are far more accurate for the check heights than markers ever were.
