Workaround for engine failure?

Featured Replies

Until SU2 is released, is there a workaround or advice to deal with the engine failure once the center tank goes dry? Was flying tonite, online, and right as I'm on approach, center tank goes dry and engines fail. Luckily, or maybe not, my computer froze at the same time, and I was disconnected, but how should I handle this situation?Should I just fly with Full center tanks? and not fill the wing tanks? Thanks,Joe G.

I would try to shut the CTR tank pumps off at about 20 lbs left in the ctr tank. In lieu of that, just don't fill the CTR tank unless necessary, or just put all of the petrol in the center tank. Not lifelike but you gotta do what you gotta do ;)

Heh hehFred hit the nail right on the head here. I finally got it down to filling the tanks normally (fill wings then the center with however much more you need to get there), and as soon as I see the center tank getting low (1k or so remaining) I shut off the center fuel pumps (like you'd do when it really WAS empty) and presto, your weights are like they would be IRL (minus the 1k left, but hey.. what ya gonna do =P). That's what works for me anyway.Even on the real thing they had an issue (since rectified with an FAA AD I think) with what I believe was the #4 pump, and that it had a nasty habit of causing explosions if there wasn't at least 1000 lbs of fuel in there whilst the pumps were still on, so PMDG unintentionally managed to get closer to the real thing than they thought =PAndy Cleeremans

Thanks guys for the advice. Just have to keep an eye on them tanks ;-)Joe G.
