November 26, 200322 yr I have a question regarding the PFD display. I was flying (rather wildly, hehe) and a symbol MM with a circle around it showed up in the top right corner of my attitude display. I searched through the manuals to see if I could find it, with no luck. This doesn't mean it is not in there, just means I'm old and I can't find it! Anyway, what does the MM symbol mean? Thanks!Bob"Flying is hours of boredom in between a few moments of pure terror".
November 26, 200322 yr HiYou had your radio set to an ils freq and happened to pass over the middle marker of a runway that used the that freq.No biggie.OM=Outer marker MM=Middle Marker IM=Inner Marker for future reference. If you look at the approach plates they will be DME from the runway threshhold on the final approach.Ted
November 26, 200322 yr Thanks Ted! I guess I just never saw that light up before going over the markers. I'll have to pay more attention!Bob"Flying is hours of boredom in between a few moments of pure terror".
November 27, 200322 yr The marker beacons operate totally independently from the ILS system. They operate on the 75Mhz band so provided you fly over one and that the marker switch is activated on the radio panel (Not fitted as standard on the PMDG until SU2) you will receive a visual and aural warning. Years ago marker beacons were also used as airways markers.
November 27, 200322 yr Adrian-This is off-topic, but I saw (on a post in Radar Contact forum) that at one time you had crash-to-desktop problems with PMDG 737 and Radar Contact. Did you get them resolved? What was problem? I am having some random failures as well.Mike Smith
