December 10, 200322 yr Hi Arthur, The LOC signal is the localizer. That is the radio beam that directs the plane in the horizontally towards the end of the runway. It is sometimes also called LLZ, I think. And yes, the glideslope is the radio beam that is angled (usually around 3 degrees but could be more) upwards from the end of the runway. It is using this signal the autopilot is let down to the threshold altitude.Hope this helps,Boaz
December 10, 200322 yr do I have to turn something on in the radio panel to hear them?I hear glideslope allthough the other I do not.thanx for the previous help
December 10, 200322 yr Hi, Yes, you have to add the audio control panel to the PMDG panel in order to turn on the identification tones. Mr. Metzinger explains this excellently in his great tutorial. You should be able to find it here in the forum. I don't think you hear the glideslope. At least, to my knowledge that is not supported in FS. LLZ'es and GS'es usually transmit their signal on a different frequency than the navaid itself. It is not 100% clear in my memory what those frequencies are, but I can dig out the information for you if you need.Hope this helps,Boaz
