Status and 56k modem users

Featured Replies

Hi all. After like 10 hours I still had no success.I wonder what the status is right now? How many percent of PMDG customers of the total people how bought the 737 have downloaded the SU2?Say 1000 people have boutht the PMDG 737, have 100 or 200 downloaded the SU2 for example? What are your plans for a mirror?I bet there are a whole lot of 56k snails clocking up the system. If to many of those modem users got in and are downloading, for sure this even more delays the situation.ThanksJan Urban

I would like to think that PMDG are monitoring bandwidth usage and not connections. This way you will get 10 times more modemers online than ADSL peeps. There again, I woudlnt be suprised if they arnt, there logic kinda eludes me but hey, its there server. Why they didnt anticpate this an run a mirror is any ones guess.Bit of a farse if you ask me, I cant even access there home page, and now I get a site unavailable message DNS unkown message. Probably server crash due to DOS attack by narked citizens. Who knows, who cares, I'll just keep trying on the offchance I get through.Nigel

If that' the case, I'd be pretty surly too. ;) It would be frustrating to know broadband users who could be in and out in a few minutes are shut out while 56k users are plowing through a 3 hour download praying their ISP doesn't disconnect.I don't know if it's technically possible, but hopefully some bandwith can be reserved for high speed connections.(and yes, I understand 56k users paid their money and have just as much right to download today as everyone else.)IMHO, I think this whole situation is laughable. The crux of commerce, especially e-commerce is to be able to deliver your product efficiently. For all the work that was done to upgrade SU2, it's a shame so many customers are forced to waste so much time and energy to get it.But there are much more important things in life. Heck, I've waited until SU2 to even buy the product. I can wait a few more days for the ferver to die down. It's a sunny 62 degree day and the golf course is calling my name - that'll be slightly more fun than hitting refresh a couple of times an hour.ed rutledge

Well sorry for being a lowly 56k user. No, I am not hogging the system at this moment, I am waiting a few days till the server has a clean bill of health and the capacity for a lowly 56k User to download...the joys of being patient!
