Help needed with DAP, please...

Featured Replies

Good morning from New Jersey. I am computer literate, but somewhat clueless on if I am using DAP (non-registered) correctly. I've got the .zip file in the download queue and status is "Downloading..." It was that way all night last night and still sitting like that this morning. I had been prompted for userid/passwd and used the numbers from my email. What I can't seem to figure out is if DAP retries, at what interval, and if it's settable by the user. I can't find any preferences concerning retries. It's not paused and an unlabelled field in the lower/middle of the screen says "Simultaneous connections." Again, does this thing auto-retry and if it does, at what interval and if it's configurable? Thanks so very very much for any advice,sj MantelKEWR

Hi!I have searched for this option, too. Although I use DAP quite often, I never had to use this feature and I couldn't find it in the online manual today. I switched to FlashGet (www.amazesoft.com), works like DAP but you can adjust the retry interval.Good luck!regards,Joerg

Joerg,Thanks so much for the reply. Does this basically mean, with Flashget, that once I get authorized, I can go to movies, take a trip to Hawaii, go surfing, etc. and then when I get back home the file will be waiting for me? Or there will still be manual monitoring and/or intervention required. Thanks again,sj MantelKEWR

I'm at retry Nr. 93 right now...But - of course - you have to use the link from the website (not the one from the e-mail...).regards,Joerg

Joerg: I understand using the direct link to the file instead of the link from the email, but how will authorization work? I.e., do I need to tell flashget my conf. id (userid) and password just once at the beginning and it takes it from there? Thanks much,sj MantelKEWR

Hi Mantel, good point. To be honest, I don't know how it works with FlashGet. There 's an option where you can set a user & password for a download, but I don't know if it works like this. But I have read comments by users from a german-speaking forum that where already sucessfull with FlashGet...regards,Joerg

Joerg: Many, many thanks for your help and advice today.sjKEWR
