Speedbrake question

Featured Replies

Well I seem to have a problem with the speedbrakes (I also have a question that's coming after). When I deploy and retract the speedbrakes on the ground with the / key everything works fine. Now when I am in flight I can deploy the speedbrakes using the / key, no problems there. It gets tricky when I want to retract them, the / key seems to do no good but hitting SHIFT / will retract them, and if I press SHIFT / once more it will arm the auto-deploy mode. Is this a normal behaviour with the model? Now my question, it seems that in flight less spoilers deploy than on the ground is this normal? Here some pictures.Max spoilers on the ground.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/53224.jpgMax spoilers in flight.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/53225.jpgThank youNick

Both of these are normal behaviors. They are both due to the fact that the PMDG accurately models the fact that their are additional spoilers that open during landing, but not in flight. This is why there is a "flight" detent on the spoiler arm: if you open it to the flight detent, you'll get full flight spoilers. If you crank the handle all the way down, you'll get the full spoilers (which aren't very conducive to maintaining lift when in flight). This also confuses FS, which leads to the "/" key oddity. When you hit "/", FS tries to open the spoilers all the way, but the PMDG guage code notices this and cranks it back to the flight detent. You can actually see this happen (or you could in SU1.1, haven't checked in SU2) if you have the trottle panel up. This then leads FS to believe that you only have partial spoilers up, not full, and the "/" key is only designed to move you between full and off.Aaron

Thanks Aaron, what you said makes perfect sense.Nick

Notice outbd and inbd. panels. They are ground spoilers. They may only be deployed on ground - Full extend or down only.eker
