When im approaching a field and get clearence to enter pattern and im told to enter lets say right downwind pattern, is the runway on my right or am i to the right of the runway?Thanks ,Ed:-beerchug

It means that turns will be right turns. Runway is to your right.

The runway is on your right. Think of flying a rectangular pattern making all right turns. If you were flying a left pattern, you would make all left turns and the runway would be on your left hand as you fly the downwind leg.One of the PDF documents in the "Library" section of MFS2002 explains the standard pattern.
