December 26, 200322 yr Just curious as to why 270 is the default MCP speed that is automatically set when using TOGA for takeoff and you first enable the autopilot. Is this configurable, or the standard default on the NG?Jason Barlow
December 26, 200322 yr Hi, Jason. After takeoff, engaging the autopilot, or moving the airspeed selector knob (one click), the target speed should automatically become "V2 plus 20kts". V2 should be set in the MCP window before you push the TOGA button (This is the correct procedure for the NG and, as far as I know, all modern Boeings). It sounds like you are selecting 250kts for takeoff??? (Unless, perhaps, you are flying the Concorde, I wouldn't recommend this ;-)).Hope this helps.Cheers,Ian.P.S. Have you downloaded any of the NG tutorials?
December 26, 200322 yr Ah. This makes perfect sense. I feel a bit silly now for asking. I knew this. but must have gotten used to the old crutch from PIC. There was a little hotspot on the A/S indicator in PIC that would automatically dial in V2 into the MCP for you. The process had become so mindless for me, I forgot that real Boeing pilots really have to dial V2 explicitly ;-)That's the trouble with magic "clicky" spots in simulations. They breed bad habits. Next thing you know, I'll be looking madly for the "magic" TOGA screw on the MCP when PSS updates their A320 :)J
