July 1, 200223 yr All of a sudden now, whenever I slew an aircraft (such as during pushback) and then turn slew off after reaching my desired position, the aircraft accelerates with take-off power... even if there's no power and the engines are not started !!!! Very strange! Anyone seen this and know what the problem might be?Thanks in advance...DougFS2002Dell 8200 with WinXP ProNVIDIA 64 MB GeForce 4
July 1, 200223 yr Doug, this is one of FS2k2's little quirks. Press F1 after slewing but before pressing Y to exit the slew.Cheers,Paul http://homepage.ntlworld.com/paul.haworth/Fortress.gifVoted Best Virtual Airline of 2002 and Best CEO of 2002 by participants in the BIG VA Vote organized by FSPILOT.comVANF "Best" New Virtual Airline Awardhttp://homepage.ntlworld.com/paul.haworth/saint_georgex1.gif
July 1, 200223 yr Thanks, Paul, for the quick reply. Also, in case you've not seen yet, there's been a serious midair over south Germany. A Boeing and Tupolev collided in midair and have both gone down. That's all the details at the moment. May the Lord have mercy...Doug
July 1, 200223 yr Yes - listening to Sky News now. A DHL 757 freighter & the Tupolev collided at FL350 near Lake Constance. Poor souls.(edit: BTW, you're welcome Doug)Paul http://homepage.ntlworld.com/paul.haworth/Fortress.gifVoted Best Virtual Airline of 2002 and Best CEO of 2002 by participants in the BIG VA Vote organized by FSPILOT.comVANF "Best" New Virtual Airline Awardhttp://homepage.ntlworld.com/paul.haworth/saint_georgex1.gif
July 1, 200223 yr Hi Doug and Paul,I read somewhere that this is what MS intended. They figure that if you are slewing, and you are above ground level then you are flying. When you come out of the slew it sling shots you to cruise speed so that you don't fall out of the sky.Now I hear you say "but I was on the ground!" Sometimes when you slew you may go up in altitude by a few feet due to joystick noise, different elevations at different areas of the airport etc.Happy flying,Andy (YSCB)
July 1, 200223 yr Yeah - that's how I understand it too; something to do with avoiding a stall.cheers,Paul http://homepage.ntlworld.com/paul.haworth/Fortress.gifVoted Best Virtual Airline of 2002 and Best CEO of 2002 by participants in the BIG VA Vote organized by FSPILOT.comVANF "Best" New Virtual Airline Awardhttp://homepage.ntlworld.com/paul.haworth/saint_georgex1.gif
July 2, 200223 yr Another option is to use SHIFT+P to pushback and then taxi to where you want to go rather then slewing. Slower, but a tad more realistic.Bob
July 2, 200223 yr It is a very useful function If you use Gliders. As there is no decent way for FS to get them in the air. I didnt know about the F1 part though.... that will be usefull with other aircraft.Having fun.
