Function Keys Inoperable

Featured Replies

I've run the 1.3 update and am unable to use my function keys (F7-extend flaps; F6-retract flaps; F1 Idle thrust; F2 Reverse Thrust. I've checked that all my keyboard assignements are mapped correctly and also tried the workaround hitting the CTRL button prior to function key use as well.Any other ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.Thanks.Pete in KORD

Hey Pete,I know it sounds simple, but did you check that the keyboard input into the FMC is turned off (i.e. clicking the right hand black bar on the FMC next to the keys). If this was left on it would stop you from using any keys to control the sim as you described.Just a thought :)CheersDavid

David:Thanks for your reply. I wasn't aware there was such a control on the FMC that could inhibit the Function Keys on the keyboard. I always use the mouse when inputting FMC data anyway. I'll check this tonight and see if that works. Thanks again.Pete in KORD

I found that my new Microsoft keyboard has a separate key with a big F on it that activates and de-activates the keyboard's function keys. The default setting is Function Keys OFF. You need to press the key (a light then comes on) telling you the Function Keys are now operable. I'm not sure I understand what value this has. Unless Function Keys are becoming obsolete? Anyway, I'm flying with my function keys again. Thanks to all who responded.
