March 6, 200422 yr Hey Yall, this seems like a stupid question for me, and I do know how to read the approach plates so you can assume that when you respond, but I am slightly baffeled by the approach into Tegucigalpa, Honduras (MHTG) for the VOR Rwy 1 approach. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/65861.jpgI would like to program the approach into my FMC. Basically, I am clueless how to do it, I tried reading the SID/STAR tutorial, I think that might be beyond my skills, and all I want is to program this one approach. I tried making custom waypoints but I don't think I set it up right. Basically, my take on the approach is this:1. I head towards the Toncontin VOR (TNT-112.3) at 9000'. 2. Then I begin a descent to 8000'after turning to head outbound on the 198 radial.3. When I intersect the Tegucigalpa NDB 091 radial (TGU-355) I head outbound on a 243 course (for what I believe is 1-2 minutes) 4. then make a standard rate turn to the left to 063 until I intercept the 018 radial inbound to rwy 1. 5. Upon flying the 018 radial inbound--I can descend to my MDA of 5620' and I must see the runway at or before 3NM. I would also like to set the MDA into my dG but my problem is that it does not go up to 5620 baro. Right now I set it to 2320/2330 RA--is that correct? Thanks a ton? Any help would be appreciated. I would like to program the FMC for this approach so it would also be appreciated if someone could show me the form. Thanks a ton! Also, how do I set the course for the 091 radial from the TGU NDB and have the 018 course from the VOR in at the same time? For your reference this picture was obtained from the VATSIM-Central America division's chart page.
March 6, 200422 yr JamesI dont know how the pro's would advise but I would do the following.First enter the VOR freq. into Nav1 in this case 112.3. Then set the course selector to runway heading. If you press the Arrival/Departure key on the FMC and select Arrvl with it's LSK button the VOR RNWY 01.If you then put your display knob in Plan Mode and adjust the range button to see it clearly, you should see the runway and procedure turn displayed. Beware though, you may have to go to the legs pages on the FMC and go to the last page. On this type of approach I would set a speed restriction if I didn't like what I was seeing on the FMC. All you need to do is enter (Example) 180/8000 in yhe scratch pad and then (on whatever the legs page) and press the LSK button that is next to TGU. You must then press the ACTIVATE-->lsk, THE EXEC button will light up, press it to finalize. The FMC will then do the calcs needed so that when you fly over/by TGU you will be at 8000 outbound and at a speed of 180. Your AP and LNav will fly you arround the procedure turn and bring you inbound you should see the airport/runway at some point. Without glideslope you have to adjust your rate of decent etc. manualy. The reason for the speed adjustment at TGU is it's tough for even the FMC to execute a 180 degree turn at 250 and do it while maintaining a 30 degree bank angle with out using up a hell of a lot of real estate. It would most likely scare the hell out of your pax. Use the same knob you used for Plan Mode, just switch it to APP Mode when you turn inbound.Good Luckregards
