March 8, 200422 yr OK here goes,Alaska Airlines, and probably other airlines, have their own approaches, not published, that they shoot into a lot of those remote airports in Alaska. They are called RNP approaches. They are flown strictly with LNAV/FMC. I would like to shoot some of those approaches, but none of the RNP Waypoints are programmed into PMDG's FMC database. My question is:Can I program these waypoints into the FMC and SAVE them using their real names in lue of programing them every single time using lat/long? Maybe in a text file somehow or something???Thanks!!Nick
March 8, 200422 yr Nick,On the Precision Manuals web site is a tutorial for writing your own procedures for the FMC. So the short answer is yes, you can write your own approach procedures, store them in text files under the appropriate airport name and they will be available to you. However, you'll need to understand the commands to make the FMC do want you want using LNAV/VNAV. I found it best to study some of the files already created in the SIDSTARS folder to understand how the commands work. The PDF document is at http://www.precisionmanuals.com/file_libra...e_SID_STARs.pdfBruce
March 8, 200422 yr Hey,An updated version of that tutorial is available on Avsim. Search for the name Terry Yingling in the FS2004 Utilities section of the library (filename tutorial_v2.zip)CheersDavid
March 8, 200422 yr OK, I read the tutorial. What if I just want to add a waypoint/GPS/RNAV fix that is not necassarily associated with an approach? One that I can dial up in the FMS and proceed direct to without selecting an approach or STAR/SID?Thanks again!Nick
