March 24, 200422 yr Since most of you know a bit more about the PMDG 737 thenI do let me ask you this? For example: If I am landing at KHDC Hammond on runway 31 I would have to use the approach below (see the approach plate below) I would enter at ZUMMI, go into an approach holding pattern then on to runway 31 and in case of a missed approach I would go on to ZUNEC and hold again till it was time to retry the approach. How cah this be programmed in the FMC or can it even be? I know that in the real world all these approach patterns are programed into the FMC but not so (unless I missed something) with the PMDG FMC. Any help would be appriciated.http://forums.simflight.com/files/hdc_gr31.gifThanks in advance,Keith
March 24, 200422 yr Hey KeithIn the DEP/ARR pages of the FMC select the runway you want to land on, in this case 31. Then go to the LEGS page and cycle through to the last page. There you should find an entry calld 'RW31', this is the runway. To setup the approach like the above plate, you'd enter all the approach info before the RW31 waypoint and all the missed approach info after RW31. The missed app points are entered the same way as any other waypoint. So the list for the above approach would look like (holds left out):ZUMMIRW31ZUNECSimple as that :)Hope it helpsCheersDavid
March 24, 200422 yr Thanks David! :) I need to play with it a bit more but doing a quick run-through that seemed to work just fine. The only other issues I have is for some reason the "arm throttle" won't activate at all either before takeoff or after. The second is that I can't seem to get the FMC to fly the descent. I have the LNAV and VNAV active but it just keeps at flight level. As before any and all help is appriciated. I have read the manual maybe 5 times now and it is a big help but some issues I just dont grasp. Thanks in advance!Keith
March 24, 200422 yr Hey Keith,Have you tried Timothy Metzinger's tutorial? It's probably the quickest, most painless way of learning this machine. The manual is excellent for learning the functions of the machine but not so good when trying to use them in practice. The auto throttle problem - I've no idea, that's never happened to me.The descent - May sound simple but did you lower the altitude in the MCP window? The aircraft will not descend at the TOD unless this is lowered.CheersDavid
March 24, 200422 yr Thanks Dave. Timothy Metzinger's tutorial is on AVSIM and it's down now and from what they say it might be down for awhile. Any other places I can find it? (PMDG just links to AVSIM.)Keith
March 24, 200422 yr Keith,One thing I once experienced is that if you don't turn the flight director on, the Autothrottle doesn't seem to work. Might try making sure the Flight Director is on.Ennis Parker
March 24, 200422 yr Sorry Keith,Tim's website also only links to avsim. I guess you'll just need to wait unfortunately.CheersDavid

March 24, 200422 yr >As we speak, I'm uploading it to flightsim.com... when it's>available for download I'll start a new thread.>>Poor Avsim is having a BAAAAD week. Thanks Timothy. I am sure it will help greatly. I do fly real world but only general aviation. Largest plane I have flown to date is the King Air B200. I remember going from VOR to GPS and the learning curve was at first a bit much BUT the benefits were well worth it. I know I will most likely never fly a 737 for real but learning to use a realistic FMC even if just for simming would be great. Thanks again for your work!Keith
