March 28, 200422 yr I'm finally on the path to Flight Sim freedom. Now my current box has served me VERY well for 4 years. But, my love of flying, real-world and sim alike is pushing the limits of my system in FS9.I finally threw in the towel and shelled out the bucks for a new system. My current box is a:Dell XPS T700r 700HMz640MB RAM, nVidia FX5200 Ultra 128MB card 30GB main drive and 40GB secondary. Well with my sliders and stuff turned way down, I get about 7-8 fps with the PMDG 737NG. The Beech 1900D gives me about 11-12 or so fps. That's actually fine for me. But I gotta have my NG!!!So, my new box is a:Dell XPS system P4 3.2HT 800MHz FSB1GIG DDR SDRAM, 400MHz256MB ATI Radeon 9800XT card 250GB drive.I think this will get those fps readings up there! Can't wait to join the ranks of all you powerhouse p.c. simmers!
March 28, 200422 yr Congrats. Im jealous. I hear those Dell XPSs are nice. If I had a million dollars, I'd buy the XPS Laptop :D-Alex P.
March 28, 200422 yr hey george-- I love the XPS but i think im getting some stutters in FS, my FPS are in the 30s (max fPS is 31 as set by me) but i don't know why I have the stutters. I know the XPS is great, but do you have any idea to fix the stutters. Thanks a ton(and I'm not tryin to scare you about the XPS--I love it!)
March 28, 200422 yr Sweet! I find myself trying to justify all this power, but I'm glad to hear there are other successful XPS users in the PMDG ranks. BTW, do you have the 1GB RAM installed? I hesitated a bit on my purchase and missed out on the free upgrade to the 2GB RAM. That would have just been sick! Probably more than needed, though. Also, do you find that with this box you can push the sliders up near the max? I've really learned to live with 10-15 fps at best and really don't mind it that much. I'm not going to know what to do with 30fps!Aaron
