PMDG1900 Broken after Installing AeroCommander

Featured Replies

Hi AllIts a sad story. After installing the Aero Commander into FS9 my PMDG 1900 no longer works eeek. It operates for a few seconds then takes FS9 down with an ignomanious crash to desktop. Just before FS9 bites the dust I notice that the RealityXP gauges have failed also. What a mess. Still, it provides an opportunity to reinstall FS9 onto a different drive and really clean things up. So it isn't all bad news.Which leave the question of reinstalling the PMDG kit (ie.1900 and 737-6/7/8/900). Does anyone know of a procedure to reinstalling the PMDG software that preserves the registration files? Can I just copy the PMDG Simulation directory to the target drive or is it more complex than that?Any help would be appreciated. Pity really, the Aero Commander was pretty nice - but I couldn't do without my 1900...

HeyMine works just fine and I've all the commanders!Did you install directly into FS from the installer or did you install to a temp location and then manually copy the required file into the correct loacations? As for registration files, are you talking about windows registry files or a registration file for the aircraft? As far as I'm aware neither exist! You can simply delete the files as you would with any other aircraft. If you've still got your main installer file that you downloaded after purchase just run that and everything should install without any problems.Perhaps it was a coruppted gau file or something (although I wouldn't think so in such a short time). Perhaps simply installing them both again will cure it.As I say mine both work without problem (just tested both to be sure).CheersDavid

>installing them both again will cure it.I should have said installing them both again could cure it.CheersDavid

Are you sure ? I tried to get a list of files and or entries that the PMDG installer installs and where, but recieved no answer. I'm also looking for some broken files or other conflicts caused by the installation. Marv

Hey,Sorry, indeed there are entries in the win registry under the Uninstall section and one of the start menu entries. I can only assume that they are used as part of the seperate uninstallers as they don't point to any uninstall files. Marv, What conflicts are you having? Are you having trouble with the Commander aswell?CheersDavid

David,I'm not sure, haven't tried my AeroCommander yet. I have a few others that have become problematic since the 800/900 install, causing some CTD's such as yours. I've tried some suggestions that I have read on this forum, some are nonsense, but I tried them anyway with no results. Try running fs9 in win98 compatibility mode, see it it helps any. Seems to have worked so far for me. I don't like it. Something broke something and I'm still looking into it. Marv

Thanks David,Well I have reinstalled the B1900 and the RealityXP gauges and they now work, but after selecting (but not reinstalling) the Aero Commander I have the CTD again - except this time it completely rebooted the notebook. I am beginning to wonder if I have the change of season issue (which is documented in the main FS forum). I will apply the fix that is recommended and see how I go. It may well be that I also have texture conflict issues also. I have installed quite a bit of textures and cloud replacements over the months so a re-install might still be on the cards.Regarding the reinstall of the 737 I was referring to the registration process for the PMDG kit rather than the Windows Registry. It is no problem to fully reinstall the PMDG aircraft and thats probably the best solution.

Hey all,Marv, You mixed us up buddy, I'm the one who's having no problems at all :)Mike, Try reinstalling the commander aswell. To test your theory on the seasonal CTD, simply change the season to summer, it is the transition period between seasons (mostly winter-spring and autumn-winter) that have the errors. Also make sure when you are changing aircraft that you are in the cockpit sometimes a crash will occur if swaping aircraft froma different view.CheersDavid

Sorry about that David,Didn't mean to get you mixed up. By the way, the seasonal changes only effects those who have addon scenery. I don't, but I tried them anyway and it still doesn't correct anything. I never had a problem with any of my other planes untill I installed the 800/900, now it's the only group of planes that do work correctly lol. I'll find out why one day. Sure wish PMDG would send me a list of entries/files other than what's in the normal aircraft folder that they changed, and or put into the installer. Marv

Well, been trying a few things, still no luck. Basicly, the install broke something, and no one around there is talking. Only excuse I've seen around here is some kind of seasonal change for addon users, fs9.cfg replacement (that's interesting) and of coarse, page file size entertainment. None of which effects anything in my system. Good LuckMarv
