Determining Destination Runway

Featured Replies

Hi all,Just downloaded the full pkg NG/800/900 and finally got this beast in the air!! I am truly impressed...much to my better half's chagrin!Anyways, does anyone have a resource or method for determining what runway to use at the arrival airport if you aren't connecting online? Also, I don't want to use MS ATC vectoring. Before I leave the ground at the departure airport, I'd like to set up a tentative destination runway...I know you can look at the prevailing winds and make an educated guess...but I suppose I'm looking for perhaps a website that might tell you. Any help?Thx in advanceChuck Nevin

Hi Chuck,If you want to make a realistic file, you can use the ATIS of your destination aiport. A little while before getting there, you will have all the info you need. Personally, I use the VFR ATC even when I fly IFR. The only problem is when the weather is bad and it tells me that the airport is IFR only, but well...I hope this helpsOlivier noir

Hi!I've bought FS Flight Keeper 2 yesterday (http://www.molitor-home.de/fs/FLKeeper/default.asp) and it seems as if the author of this tool found a way to determine the destination runway in use: FS records the active runways for all airports in a file, this file is being used to determine the active runway for AI traffic...so if you have AI traffic activated and aircraft flying to this airport, you could (if you happen to be a programmer) determine the active runway through this file....If you don't happen to be a programmer, you could have a look at Flight Keeper 2 which has this feature included. I haven't tried it yet for myself, but I sure will in the near future :)regards,Joerg
