May 13, 200422 yr Gentlemen:Let me tell you about my problems. I had no problems before I buy PMDG800/900 and a new video card, details below, and since FPS is around 04 and 12 on the ground and not much better in the air, plus te PC shuts down and restarts. It shuts down even before I start flying. I formated the hard disk re-downloaded all the prgrams required but no luck. If someone experienced similar problems your suggestions would be much apprciated.Andre69Intel Pentium 4 1.8 mhz 512 MB ram Nvidia Gforce FX5200 PCI/128MBWindows XP
May 13, 200422 yr My computer is almost like you, just the display card is different from me (mine is 9700pro)And I have low FPS on gound too, about 5~12. I have set many details low but also like this.....So, I think it's because of my CPU. I think I will change the CPU during the summer holiday.................
May 13, 200422 yr Random restarts and shutdowns are generally the sign of an overstressed power supply.Go download some benchmarking software and beat up on your machine to get it good and hot and see if the problem shows up there.Ray
May 13, 200422 yr I seem to remember a number of FPS issues with some video cards that are not related to the PMDG.Have you checked the main FS Simulator forum?I'd first get rid of the usual FS9 problem child, its CFG file, and backup my FS9.CFG, delete it, and see if that fixes things before you get a lot more involved.Key things I seem to remember about low FPS (this is common to all planes, and has nothing to do with the PMDG)1) hyperthreading can cause this on the new P4s (some argue for, some argue against) - something about FS9 threads being confused, and turning off Hyperthreading in the BIOS2) video drivers can cause this (ensure you have the latest)3) disabling AA inside FS9 and instead forcing it in the display applet (control panel) under directX helps immensely4) dynamic object bug in FS9 (dynamic objects never get removed from the draw stack and the longer you fly the slower it gets until FS9 runs out of memory)5) tone down scenery settings6) set max frame rate to allow thread processing in the background (mine is set at 24).PMDG specific:1) update rate of the gauges (LCD tuning)2) try standard 2D model (no VC / no cabin) see where you are. That will tell you if it's a model size (CPU oomf) / texture problem (video oomf).Hope this helps.
