The term 'Heavy'?

Featured Replies

Hi all, could someone tell me if the term 'heavy' relates only to the '747 queen of the skies' or also to other types, such as the 737, etc. Also, is there a definitive list of abbreviations used in the aeronautical world available to us newbies, on a particular website.Thanks.Keith Sandford

The term heavy relates to aircraft over a certain weight...Heavy- Aircraft capable of takeoff weights of more than 255,000lbs (115,770.00 kg)whether or not they are operating at this weight during a particular phase of flight.
