PMDG "Cruise Speed Questions

Featured Replies

Hello I have a few Questions Reguarding the NG 737. 1) What is the LRC Long Range Cruise speeds in Mach for the 600-700- 800-900? I know this can vary, just looking for a general speed.2) What is the % MAC Range for the NGs? Thank you a Bunch, Can't find this in the manuals.Jason SokoloffFlyfunjets.com

Jason, Hopefully some of the following information can assist you. It's amazing the stuff you find on the laptop from old projects at work :)...1) The Long Range Cruise variables depend on aircraft weight and your cruising levels. You are correct, the Mach number does change considerably. Below you will find an extract from the Boeing Flight Planning & Performance Manual for the 737-800 with CFM56-7B 26K engines. It should give you a good indication of the speeds you are looking for. I have indicated the Mach numbers in yellow and the grey boxes indicate the optimal performance range. There are other charts for all other crusing levels as well.http://www.vozvirtual.org/infopack/longrangecruise.gif2) The MAC % values for the 737NG obviously vary as to the load and load distribution of each flight. Below you will see an extract from a 737NG laod and trim system. The colours have been shaded to show you the relevant sections of the graph. Please note that the green section is NOT a part of the graph and was added purely to indicate the best distribution for maximum fuel efficiency for a specific project at work. The dotted lines going diagonally down the page represent the MAC % values on the graph. The left most dotted line is 8%. It then increases in 2% increments going right across the graph until the last dotted line which is 32%.http://www.vozvirtual.org/infopack/c%20of%20g%20chart.gifBugger.... Sorry about the size of this shot.RegardsSkip

Skip, thanks A lot, I have been trying to find optimal fuel efficiency, for the 737s. I'm writing SOPS for my VA, There is a wealth of info out there. Thanks again!Jason Sokoloffflyfunjets.com
