June 25, 200421 yr Hello,I'm after a little advice.Without winds I set the auto throttle to VREF + 5. However, I notice that I seem to always float (ground effect?) down the runway without actually touching down.On final should I be at VREF + 5 or VREF as determined by the FMC?I notice that if I slow down below VREF I neary always land without floating.I'd like to learn to do it properly - thanks..........Iain
June 25, 200421 yr Hi Iain,I alsways land with Vref + 5 until 30 feet is called. I then pull the throttle to Idle and land. This results in a smooth landing for me.Regards,Peter
June 25, 200421 yr Standard everywhere is to bug VRef+5 in MCP Window. If you take power off at right point you will touchdown at exactly the right spot every time. May I suggest you do a few autolands and see where the power comes off (27' on RA) and then copy that.I don't know where I would be these days without those altitude callouts :)ATB,Brad
