June 27, 200421 yr Does anyone know how to perform a touch and go in the NG? I tried once and I got the take-off config warning sound when spooling the engines up on the ground roll.
June 28, 200421 yr "Does anyone know how to perform a touch and go in the NG?"It probably depends on your landing configuration.... Do you mean an intentional touch and go (for training purposes)... or a touch and go after you've seen something on the runway ahead of you?Training for touch and go's on some Boeings involves configuring the aircraft incorrectly for landing (e.g. speedbrake and autobrakes not armed). Touch and go's for some aircraft in non-training situations are not recommended because of the speed you lose with the automatic application of speedbrakes and autobrakes. It may be best to run over that stray dog/cat on the runway, rather than risk running off the end of the runway at sub-rotation speeds ;-)I think the aural warnings are unavoidable because of airplane logic.... and probably shouldn't be inhibited as they are a good reminder that it is probably not the best to take off in your current config (trim and flap-wise). Spoilers should stow and wheelbrakes should trip off with application of thrust, but whether you lose too much speed before you apply thrust should be taken into consideration.Cheers,Ian.
June 28, 200421 yr I think that touch and go's should be ofcourse made without any use of autobrake and spoilers. You should make a 30 flap landing and then full thrust and back airborne. The sound is probably unvoidable, goes off when flaps are retracted to 10 or 5 I think.
June 28, 200421 yr Normal takeoffNormal landing, except don't forget to NOT arm any means of braking device.Depending on runway avail, land, set flaps 15, yank those TOGA buttons and rotate as usual. If short runway, touch, full TOGA thrust and lift off immediately again.Flaps retraction on shedule. Though get up to flaps 5 as soon as possible.
June 29, 200421 yr "yank those TOGA buttons and rotate as usual."Is this from your training manuals, Lenny? According to our maintenance manuals, the A/T will disarm two seconds after touchdown. By the time you've set your flaps, pushing one of the TOGA button should do nothing.Of course, if you "yank" the TOGA buttons, it might have a completely different effect :-) Cheers.Ian.
