Painting Aircraft Advice needed.

Featured Replies

Future Airline Pilot Hello painters, I am trying to get into the painting aircraft thing. I have paint shop pro 7. I am currently trying to figure out how to get the body of the aircraft one color with out filling in the whole plane with flood fill. If you do that you no longer see the windows and such. It would be great help if you could give me advice on how to get the body of the aircraft one color without filling in windown and doors etc. I am trying to do the New Zealand based Freedom Air. Also can anyone tell me how you get the logo on to the tail of the aircraft i am painting. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. scott

Hello, Ummm..im not quite sure on what you are saying. Remember i am an amatuer. Can you go in a little more depth please or give me a little more than a sentence. I need some detail thanks. Scott

Scott,if you open the PSD file (like 700_full_left.psd) you will see that it has different layers. In PSP7 if you don't have a window with the title 'Layer Palette' then go to the menu View->ToolBars and check the checkbox 'Layer Palette'.In this window 'Layer Palette' you will see the different layers 'Background', 'shadow', 'mid_shadow',...If the layer 'Background' is not hilighted, then click on it. Then right-click on this layer and select 'New Raster Layer...', name it whatever you want and click OK. Then click on this new layer in the window 'Layer Palette' in order to make it the current layer. If you start painting now, you will see that it doesn't affect any windows or doors.I use to make separate layer for any text, flags, lines,...Hope this helps.CheersThomas

I suggest you follow this tutorialhttp://www.calclassic.com/repaint.htmIt contains everything you need to knowCheersDan.
