800/900

Featured Replies

I bought the 737NG 600/700 not that long ago, it cost me close to 30 GBP in Game UK. Almost immediately there is this 800/900 upgrade. Some how I feel cheated by this.On one hand it could be said, it's $25 for a longer body. However I hear reports of new electrical systems that will add them selves to the 600/700 as well, so it's an upgrade as well as the longer body. It still doesn't sound like a well priced upgrade to me.Further, I feel it sounds more like all future updates and upgrades, plus even support is now moving towards the 800/900's yet I dont really feel "that" geeky to spend another 15 to 20 quid on what is effectively a minor upgrade and a longer body.I thought I would post this, with it being a little contravesial it might spawn some discussion on the quality and value of the 800/900 upgrade. :) Hopefully it wont start a riot.Tangent point incoming: Why are there no tool tips in the PMDG planes? Dynamic ones would be excellent for the analogue guages that are very hard to read.

Hello,Actually you are not correct right now. The 800/900 upgrade is not just minor. I can say its a completely new plane. The panel is completely re-worked and many many new systems are added. Also there are some type specific differences on 600-700 and 800-900 that they had to change.

You paid 30 quid for the 600/700 version. You still have that and it works perfectly so,in effect, you've lost nothing and have not been cheated-you got exactly what you thought you were paying for in the shop.Support for the 600/700 has not stopped, there's just a lot less talk of the package as it is essentially complete and virtually bug free(if there is such a term in the software world).John http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewer

Hi !PMDG has the best offer due to price and grade of realism. There's a famous Group, who's name i still can't remember, they wan't all in all about 75

Yeah, the boys are right...I only own the 737-700 in the cd version... Please note that this plane is currently on a patched status, and that i works just as it is promised on the box... no less, maybe even more.So all in all you got what you bought, I manage to be happy without even knowing what the 800-900 is about...Don't get me wrong, I UNDERSTAND your point, and nobody is going to flame you here for giving out your opinion, this is a gentleman's place. As a matter of fact I thought the same when I first new about the 800-900 some months ago.On the other hand... the 800-900 is a diferent plane, is another model, it has other flight dinamics caracteristics, new systems etc.. Think it that way:You have 737 NG, complete and beautiful, with all the bells and whistles, no plane has ever had in FS. Be happy about that, compare with the 737 of the "other company" that cost almost three times more and is imcomplete, the liveries have additional cost and the support is pretty much absent...Now, you have two options, keep your plane as it is, just like I have done all this timeOr Buy another plane from this company: the 800-900, if you do that, you will not be cheated, but as a gift for being a loyal customer you will get improvements in the plane you bought initially!bottom line, you are getting improvements, out of what was promised, on a plane that you own for buying another plane!PS/I will buy the 800/900 once the upcoming patch is released and "approved" by this community.

I was of the same philosophy when the 800/900 first came out, but I splashed out after a couple of weeks and have not regretted my decision for one moment. It is like owning another two planes with a few extra bits and bobs. It took PMDG 9 months to come out with the upgrade. They deserve the money without question.Best RegardsBoone,[email protected]"Flying a plane is no different from riding a bicycle. It's just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes."
