July 24, 200421 yr Frequently (but not always) when I switch to the Overhead Panel after starting the 737 NG application and start powering the plane up, I switch on the Ground Power and then switch on the Battery Switch, I have no power to the Radios or the Temperature Display. If I cycle the Standby Power switch off and on I then have power. What am I doing wrong? I am I shutting down the aircraft's power system improperly on the previous flight or what?Tom Taylor:-(
July 25, 200421 yr "I switch on the Ground Power and then switch on the Battery Switch,..."A real world 737 Engineer told me this....."The correct procedure for applying external power on our aircraft is battery switch on first then external power. That way the power relays will be correctly positioned prior to AC coming on line.If you turn on the battery first then the plane wakes up normally."(My comments) Even though, in theory, you can apply external power without the battery switched on, I think the Boeing NG electrical system designers didn't quite get the logic right, so it's best to turn on the battery first.I've also been told that it's best that you turn the battery off last when you depower an aircraft... as you may not be able to re-apply external power after that.On the other hand, it might be a completely different thing causing your problem :( ... but it's worth a try ;-)Cheers.Ian.
