If I change the STAB TRIM on the pedestal from "NORMAL" to "AUTO PILOT" and "MAIN ELEC", what will this do?Rgds,Brandon Glass

Hi Brandon,These are switches used to isolate the Main Electric trim and the Auotpilot Trim from the trim system and are used only in event of a trim runaway which is an emergency procedure. They would never be touched under normal operations.Cheers,

I remember being in LAX one day on a 767 that had a mechanical delay due to a defective Trim indication problem. I was talking to the Pilot, on the Flight Deck, as we were all trying to kill time while the mechanics checked it out. I said that I bet a Trim problem in a commercial aircraft could be really dangerous. As he looked out the window into the terminal, he said, " We wouldn't want to be any higher than we are right now". :)PS, they never did get it fixed, and they finally towed the plane away and replaced it with another 7 hours later.
